速報では、SRB-3(PM)は正常に地上燃焼試験を終えたとのこと。写真は試験後のもの。

燃焼試験を終えたばかりのSRB-3の見学ができました。コンポジット推進薬が燃えたあと特有の、塩素の臭い（匂い?）がしました。ついさっきまで、この世のすべてをも焼き尽くすかような炎を吐き出していたものを、すぐそばで見ているというのは、なんとも不思議な体験でした。

国立研究開発法人宇宙航空研究開発機構（JAXA）は、H3ロケット用固体ロケットブースタ（SRB-3）開発の一環として、設計の妥当性等の確認を目的として実施したSRB-3実機型モータ地上燃焼試験の結果について、下記のとおりお知らせいたします。
試験は予定したデータを取得し、良好に終了しました。

Японское национальное аэрокосмическое агентство (JAXA) провело наземное огневое испытание ТТУ SRB-3, которое проводилось с целью подтверждения обоснованности конструкции в рамках разработки ракеты-носителя. Испытание завершилось с хорошими результатами, запланированные данные получены.

Below are the results of JAXA the ground firing tests of SRB-3, the H3 rocket Solid Fuel Rocket Booster. The testing was conducted for the SRB-3 design validation and verification.

Talked to Ko Ogasawara yesterday, the manager of rockets for MItsubishi, which builds the H2A and H2B boosters. He's confident the H3 is coming along and will launch in 2020. He's even more confident they'll be able to offer it commercially for $51 million. Would be impressive.

#JAXA plans to scale up #H3 cadence to 8-10 flights per year. Between H3, Ariane 6, Falcon 9, New Glenn and Angara coming online the launch-business in the 2020ies is definitely going to be a Buyers market. Interesting times.

Inmarsat to be first commercial customer for the new H3 launch vehicle provided by MHI

London/Tokyo, December 6, 2018 - Inmarsat (LON: ISAT), the world leader in global mobile satellite communications, has today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) to be the first commercial customer to place an order for the new H3 launch vehicle. The maiden flight of H3 is scheduled for 2020 with Inmarsat planning to deploy the new launch vehicle after 2022.

This is the second agreement entered by Inmarsat and MHI, following the launch services contract awarded to MHI's H-IIA Launch Vehicle in 2017. These agreements underline the growing partnership between the two companies in the area of launch services.

Rupert Pearce, CEO of Inmarsat, said: "Inmarsat is the world leader in global mobile satellite communications; a position we have achieved by building an exceptional ecosystem of partners. MHI Launch Services enjoys an extremely high success rate of 97.9% and has provided 41 successful consecutive launches since 2005, delivered on-time and to the customer's satisfaction by current launch vehicle both H-IIA and H-IIB.

The agreement with Inmarsat reflects MHI's long-term commitment to supporting a wide range of customers in the space industry. MHI will continue to support the development of the space industry, and will seek further new opportunities in this field both in Japan and globally.
