Задайте себе вопрос : какая реакция горения более вероятна между углерод-углеродным волокном и  а) твердым кислородом; б) жидким кислородом?

Я и близко без понятия    Причем, судя по расследованию той аварии, специалисты тоже столкнулись с затруднениями разного рода.

мне кажется, что обязательно. как иначе еще мог быть разрыв? трение оно конечно не оно, но так и сказано же - "can ignite", а не "ignite"

Согласно источникам издания, нештатная ситуация возникла до планового зажигания двигателя и была вызвана утечкой жидкого кислорода и проникновением неназванного «источника воспламенения» из наземных систем.

Источник воспламенения это наверное TEA-TEB.
Merlin 1D uses a pyrophoric mixture of Triethylaluminium-Triethylborane (TEA-TEB) as igniter that is injected into the gas generator and combustion chamber to initiate the combustion process that is sustained as LOX and RP-1 flows into the GG/Chamber once turbopumps spin up, initially using high-pressure helium for spin-up.

While preparing to conduct a test firing of the most advanced Merlin engine of the type that will launch astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) as soon as next year, something sparked the outbreak of a fire in a test bay earlier this month on a SpaceX engine test stand at their rocket development facility in McGregor, Texas, SpaceX spokesman John Taylor confirmed to Universe Today.
The resulting fire in a McGregor, Texas test bay apparently did not involve an engine explosion as technicians were getting ready to conduct an actual hot fire test. The fire may have occurred as a result of a leak while setting the Merlin engine up on a test stand during pre-test procudures. Details have not been released.

To date, SpaceX's Merlin engines have been fired over 440 times on orbital missions and over 5,600 times in test and launch. For reference, they completed the 100th Merlin 1D around October 22nd, 2014. That makes for 300 engines in ~1156 days, or 3.85 days per engine. Obviously they began at a much lower rate and are running at a higher rate today, but still - impressive!

Вчера ведущий трансляции говорил что двигатель Блок 4 имеет постоянное давление в КС и с увеличением высоты его тяга растет. Двигатель Блок 5 будет снижать давление в КС с увеличением высоты и поддерживать постоянную тягу 190 000 фунтов.
