Iran to Send New Home-Made Satellites into Space

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran plans to send two new home-made satellites and a bio-capsule of living creatures into space on the back of a new home-made satellite carrier in the next few months, a senior Iranian space official said.

Head of Iran Space Agency (ISA) Hamid Fazeli said on Thursday that the Iranian bio-capsule will take a live creature into orbit by early September.

He also said that 'Fajr' (Dawn) satellite will blast into space by the end of summer and finally the student-made 'Navid Elm-o-Sanat' (Hope for Science and Technology) will be launched into orbit as early as February 2012.

Fazeli hailed the surge in Iran's space activities, adding that such breakthroughs have only been made possible by local expertise and endeavors.

ЦитироватьIran to build two new satellites

TEHRAN, July 10 (MNA) – Iran's Aerospace Organization plans to build two satellites namely Pars 2 and Qaem, the caretaker director of the organization announced on Sunday.

"Remote-sensing Pars 2 satellite and ...telecommunications Qaem satellite will be launched into space (in the future)," Hamid Fazeli told the Mehr News Agency.

Pars 2 satellite will be designed for a period of three years in use and can take pictures with 5-meter resolution, he noted.

Pars 2 and Qaem satellites will orbit at an altitude of 600 and 3,600 kilometers above the Earth's surface respectively, he explained.

Fazeli said Iran has difficulties obtaining satellite images and these images are provided by other countries.

Using Pars 2 satellite, Iran can have its own satellite images, he added.

He went on to say that the manufacture of Pars 2 satellite will be completed by the next 4 years.

He said that Amir Kabir, Navid or Zafar are also remote-sensing satellites but the images taken by them are low resolution and are not efficient.

There are four types of resolution when discussing satellite imagery in remote sensing: spatial, spectral, temporal, and radiometric.

Spatial resolution is defined as the pixel size of an image representing the size of the surface area being measured on the ground and it is determined by the sensors' instantaneous field of view (IFOV). Spectral resolution is defined by the wavelength interval size and the number of intervals the sensor is measuring. Temporal resolution is defined by the amount of time that passes between imagery collection periods and radiometric resolution is defined as the ability of an imaging system to record many levels of brightness.

Iran... Sharif Signalled Into Service (Satellite)

[SatNews] Another Iranian satellite launch can be expected "in the near future...."

Chancellor of Iran's Sharif University, Reza Roustazad, said on Monday that Iran plans to launch a new domestically-manufactured satellite dubbed Sharif in the near future, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported. "Industrial Sharif University's satellite will be the last satellite designed by university students, which will be launched into space," Roustazad was quoted as saying.

The Sharif satellite, described by officials as the country's best, will be sent into space when it is capable of orbiting 36,000 kilometers above the Earth's surface, he said. 9The reason why Iran's satellites cannot stay in space for a long time is that they cannot orbit the Earth in an altitude upper than 36,000 kilometers above the Earth's surface, he said according to the report. Efforts should be made to increase the launch power of satellites in order to let it stay longer in space, he added.

In July, Iran announced that it successfully launched its Rassad-1 satellite into space by the Safir rocket and put into orbit 260 kilometers above the Earth. Rassad-1 (Observation-1) could revolve 15 times around the Earth every 24 hours with a two-month life cycle. Iran, which has outlined an ambitious space programme in the face of Western concerns, put a satellite into orbit in 2009 and sent small animals into space in 2010.

Western powers fear that Tehran could develop a missile capability under cover of its space program which could be used to deliver nuclear warheads. Iran denied that it has any ambition to develop an atomic bomb and insisted that both its space and nuclear programmes are entirely peaceful. Originally scheduled to launch in August 2010, Rassad was constructed by Malek Ashtar University in Tehran, which is linked to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards.

In February, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unveiled four new prototypes of home-built satellites that Iran hopes to launch before March 2012. Iran, in February, unveiled what it said were prototypes of four new home-built satellites, Rassad, Fajr (Dawn), Zafar (Victory) and Amir Kabir-1 and also the engines of a Safir-B1 (Messenger-B1) rocket, news reports said. The country does not have an operational satellite of its own but Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced last December that two satellites, Fajr and Rassad-1, would be launched by the end of the current Iranian year to March 20.

Tehran says it aims to send an Iranian into space by 2020.

TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (MNA) – Director of Iran's Space Agency has said the Rasad satellite has accomplished its mission and entered the atmosphere.

Hamid Fazeli told IRNA news agency that Rasad was designed to orbit the earth for about one month and 2 to 3 weeks.

Fazeli also said all the objectives behind sending the satellite into space have been achieved.

He went on to say that the satellite split up when entering the Earth's atmosphere due to its low weight, high temperature and speed.

On June 17, Iran successfully launched its second domestically-manufactured Rasad into orbit.

Rasad (Observation in English), was launched aboard Safir rocket and successfully reached orbit.

The 15.3-kilo satellite carried out topography missions and produced high-resolution maps.

The satellite was designed to orbit the Earth 15 times a day at a height of 260 kilometers over the Earth's atmosphere.

Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said Rasad possessed all characteristics of a big satellite, although it is small.

ЦитироватьIran Develops Satellite Jamming Capability

TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Iranian military officials announced here on Tuesday that the country has developed a technology to jam enemies' military and spy satellites.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Commander of Khatam-ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli stressed the necessity of developing and using the latest electronic defense systems for future electronic warfare.

Pointing to three electronic warfare systems unveiled today, the commander said that necessary grounds have been prepared to bring ran's air defense capability to the cyber space.

"In other word, when we say we can deceive enemy's military and spy satellites, it means that we have been able to step into the (cyber) space," Esmayeeli said.

"That is a power we have achieved despite all the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic," he noted.

The General further pointed out that Iran's Defense Industries are working on the production of galaxy radars.

Earlier today, Esmayeeli attended a ceremony to unveil Iran's latest and most important achievements in the field of electronic warfare.

The hi-tech products which went on display included Shahed Electronic Warfare Simulator, an electronic warfare tester of Radar systems called 'Sabah', and a GPS jamming system all designed and produced by Iranian experts inside the country.

Electronic warfare is amongst the most crucial elements in air defense and military observers believe that Iran enjoys an excellent capability in electronic warfare technology and in designing and manufacturing electronic warfare systems.

In September, Lieutenant Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base for Electronic Warfare Colonel Moharram Qolizadeh told FNA that the country plans to equip its air defense units with a state-of-the-art electronic warfare technology to be used for detouring enemies' guided missiles.

He pointed to the key role of electronic jamming systems in winning electronic warfare, and said Iran is seeking to go one more step to deceive and detour the incoming guided missiles.

"When a guided missile is launched by the enemy, it is not possible to destroy it through jamming systems, but it is only possible to redirect it in a way that the missile loses its precision targeting capability," Qolizadeh added.

Last August, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmadi Vahidi said that Tehran is capable of producing different kinds of electronic warfare systems to fight back enemies' possible electronic war against Iran.

"The communication tools and equipment produced by the Iranian experts have helped us establish fully desirable land, air, sea and defensive communications at tactical and non-tactical levels for the Armed Forces," he said at the time.

Vahidi described security, resistance, smartness, modernity, low volume and weight as well as high efficiency as the special features of Iran's electronic products.

ISNA - Tehran

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran will have accomplished building a spacecraft carrying life capsule in next 28 months.

The Head of space dynamic research team of Iranian prestigious Amir-Kabir Poly Technique University Mansour Kabganian told ISNA, "The engineering model of the spacecraft which is to carry life capsule and be launched to LEO would be constructed by next 24 months."

The project aims at sending life capsule to the space, short-term stationing of the spacecraft in LEO, returning to the atmosphere and receiving vital signs.

"Sending life capsule to LEO, employment of indigenous carrier, returning of the ship in due time, registering and sending vital signs, using Iran's potentials and capabilities are other goals pursued by the project," he continued.

LEO lies in 1600-2000 kilometers away from the earth.

Also Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said last month that the country plans to launch three new domestically-produced satellites into space in the near future.

Vahidi said that Iranian scientists are set to send the Fajr (Dawn) , Navid (Harbinger) and Tolou (Rise) satellites into space in the near future.

Fajr will be sent into space by the "Safir-e-Fajr" satellite carrier, while Navid and Tolou will be mounted on the Simorgh ( Phoenix) carrier for lift-off.

Iran launched its first domestically-produced satellite Omid (Hope) in 2009 and sent small animals into space in 2010. In February, Iran unveiled the prototypes of four domestically- built satellites of Rassad (Observation), Fajr, Zafar (Victory) and Amir Kabir-1. It also displayed the engines of a Safir-B1 (Ambassador-B1) rocket.

Fajr satellite is said to be a reconnaissance satellite constructed by the country's defense ministry, and Zafar, which is scheduled to be launched in 2012, weighs 90 kilograms and will revolve around the globe in an elliptical orbit at 500 kilometers, the local media said without further details.

In June, Iran launched Rassad-1 (Observation-1) satellite into space with the Safir rocket and put it into orbit 260 kilometers above the earth.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in June that Iran had obtained the technology to develop different satellites and would launch larger satellites that could be placed in circular orbits at an altitude of nearly 35,000 kilometers.

Tehran says it has plans to send a man into space by 2020.
