Vapors are visible near the Falcon 9 rocket at pad 39A, suggesting that fueling of the launcher has begun.

RP-1 kerosene fuel will be loaded into the two-stage rocket first, followed by cryogenic liquid oxygen. Today's static fire window opens at 6 p.m. EDT (2200 GMT), and the countdown appears to be on track for a hotfire attempt near that time.

SpaceX does not provide live updates on the status of static fire tests.

Today's static fire test window has opened, and the Falcon 9 rocket is being fueled for the hold-down engine test at pad 39A, but there is no sign of an imminent ignition. The Falcon 9's strongback tower is expected to slightly retract from the vehicle a few minutes before the static fire, and that milestone has not been observed yet.

The strongback structure at pad 39A is moving into position at an angle 1.5 degrees from the Falcon 9 rocket for engine start, an indication that the static fire could be moments away.

In the final minutes of the countdown, the Falcon 9 is switched to internal power, the Merlin engines are chilled down for ignition, and the propellant tanks on both stages are pressurized.
Hold-down clamps will keep the Falcon 9 firmly grounded for today's hotfire.

The Falcon 9's nine Merlin 1D engines have ignited at pad 39A for several seconds. We'll await official confirmation from SpaceX that today's hotfire test went according to plan.
