ВАШИНГТОН, 16 мар - РИА Новости. Ракета-носитель Falcon 9 компании SpaceX стартовала с космодрома на мысе Канаверал во Флориде с коммерческим телекоммуникационным спутником EchoStar 23, компания ведет трансляцию запуска.

Старт был дан в расчетные 09:00 мск со стартовой площадки 39А. Ракета-носитель выводит на геостационарную орбиту спутник, принадлежащий корпорации EchoStar, предназначенный для передачи телевизионного сигнала странам Южной Америки.

Запуск EchoStar 23 планировался на 2016 год, но был отложен из-за взрыва в сентябре прошлого года в ходе предстартовых испытаний ракеты Falcon 9. Попытка запуска во вторник 14 марта была отложена по погодным условиям из-за сильного ветра.

Спутник, срок работы которого рассчитан на 15 лет, был создан компанией Space Systems/Loral (SS/L). Аппарат весом около 5,5 тонны, будет работать на геостационарной орбите.

The Falcon 9's Merlin vacuum engine has ignited for a 60-second burn to inject the EchoStar 23 satellite into its intended egg-shaped orbit, accelerating the spacecraft on a trajectory tens of thousands of miles above Earth.

SpaceX and EchoStar have not disclosed the target orbit for the 12,345-pound (5,600-kilogram) spacecraft.
