Экипаж первого пилотируемого корабля Crew Dragon пройдет недельную подготовку в ЦПК

Подготовка будет продолжаться одну неделю

МОСКВА, 27 мая. /ТАСС/. Астронавты NASA Роберт Бенкен и Даглас Хёрли прибыли в Центр подготовки космонавтов (ЦПК) имени Ю. А. Гагарина для прохождения подготовки к первому полету на американском космическом корабле Crew Dragon компании SpaceX. Об этом говорится в сообщении пресс-службы ЦПК, размещенном на сайте организации в понедельник.

"На этой неделе в ЦПК будут проходить ознакомительную подготовку астронавты NASA Роберт Бенкен и Даглас Хёрли, которые готовятся к Demo 2 - первому пилотируемому полету космического корабля SpaceX Crew Dragon", - говорится в сообщении.

Подготовка будет продолжаться одну неделю, пояснили в центре. За это время астронавтам предстоит получить общее представление о конструкции российского сегмента Международной космической станции (МКС), его компоновке. Также "они изучат действия экипажа МКС при возникновении аварийных ситуаций".

Ранее Бенкен и Хёрли уже проходили подготовку в ЦПК с 2000 по 2002 год. После этого они совершили космические полеты. Так, Бенкен был членом экипажа шаттла "Индевор" во время миссий STS-123 и STS-130. Хёрли совершал полеты на шаттлах "Индевор" и "Атлантис" (миссии STS-127 и STS-135 соответственно).

На этой неделе в ЦПК будут проходить ознакомительную подготовку астронавты НАСА Роберт Бенкен и Даглас Хёрли, которые готовятся к Demo 2 - первому пилотируемому полёту космического корабля SpaceX Crew Dragon.

Роберт Бенкен и Даглас Хёрли прошли подготовку по программе кандидатов в астронавты НАСА с 2000-го по 2002 год и уже имеют опыт космических полётов.

Роберт Бенкен, полковник ВВС США, выполнил два космических полёта на шаттле «Индевор». Являлся специалистом полётов STS-123 и STS-130. Провёл в космосе 29 с половиной суток и совершил шесть выходов в открытый космос суммарной продолжительностью 37 часов.

Даглас Хёрли, полковник Морской пехоты США в отставке, также выполнил два космических полёта - на шаттлах «Индевор» (STS-127) и «Атлантис» (STS-135) и провёл в космосе 28 с половиной суток.

Продолжительность подготовки Роберта Бенкена и Дагласа Хёрли в ЦПК составит одну неделю, в течение которой они получат общее представление о конструкции и компоновке российского сегмента Международной космической станции (РС МКС), ознакомятся с назначением и алгоритмами работы систем РС МКС. Также они изучат действия экипажа МКС при возникновении аварийных ситуаций.

So as it turns out, and I know this is shocking (<--sarcasm), #SpaceX has been talking about the accident with Crew Dragon to #NASA. Every. Single. Day. as confirmed by NASA multiple times and again today during Commercial Crew briefing to NASA Advisory Council. (see below)

A reminder here that this is the first time we are seeing a crew Incident investigation in the Commercial Crew era. Who is in charge of disseminating info to the media is a perfectly valid question. This makes clear though that SpaceX is talking and not keeping things secret.

NASA continues to work closely with SpaceX as they lead the accident investigation into the April 20 Crew Dragon static fire anomaly at Landing Zone 1 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Teams have completed work to ensure the site is safe and are focusing on the root cause analysis, which will determine the impact to commercial crew flights tests. SpaceX had several Crew Dragon vehicles in production, and plans to shift the spacecraft assignments forward. The spacecraft originally assigned to Demo-2, the first flight test with a crew onboard, now will be used for the company's in-flight abort test and the first operational mission spacecraft will be used for Demo-2.

The Crew Dragon static fire was designed as a health check of the spacecraft's Draco systems and to demonstrate integrated system SuperDraco performance. During the static fire, SpaceX successfully completed a firing of 12 service section Dracos with the anomaly occurring during the activation of the SuperDraco system. Over the course of development, SpaceX has tested the SuperDraco thrusters hundreds of times.

Following the test, NASA and SpaceX immediately executed mishap plans established by the agency and company. SpaceX fully cleared the test site and followed all safety protocols. Early efforts focused on making the site safe, collecting data and developing a timeline of the anomaly, which did not result in any injuries. NASA assisted with the site inspection including the operation of drones and onsite vehicles.

NASA and SpaceX remain committed to the safety of our astronaut and ground crews and will proceed with flight tests when ready.

МОСКВА, 29 мая - РИА Новости. Специалисты аэрокосмического агентства США пока не смогли понять, почему пилотируемый космический корабль Crew Dragon взорвался во время стендовых испытаний в апреле этого года, сообщает онлайн-издание SpaceNews.

"Пока мы можем только сказать, что причиной этого послужили сбои в работе двигателя SuperDraco. Сложно сказать, когда завершится расследование - в этом деле не стоит торопиться. Необходимо очень методично изучить все возможные причины сбоя", -- заявила Кэйти Людерс (Kathy Lueders), руководитель коммерческой пилотируемой программы в НАСА.

Семиместный космический корабль Crew Dragon, пилотируемая версия аппарата Dragon-2, создается компанией SpaceX уже почти десять лет. Осенью 2014 года он стал одним из победителей программы Commercial Crew Development, в рамках которой руководство НАСА выделило более 2,6 миллиарда долларов США на завершение его разработки.

Изначально представители SpaceX заявляли, что Crew Dragon будет способен осуществлять мягкую посадку, используя набор из восьми двигателей SuperDraco и вдвое большего числа их маневровых "кузенов" Draco. Два года назад Элон Маск заявил о том, что его стартап отказался от этой идеи и вернулся к классической схеме посадки с использованием парашютов.

Первый тестовый полет Crew Dragon состоялся в марте этого года, когда космический корабль успешно вышел на орбиту, состыковался с МКС и затем вернулся на Землю. После этого аппарат начал проходить серию тестов в лабораториях НАСА, направленных на оценку его надежности и безопасности.

Одно из подобных испытаний закончилось катастрофой - в конце апреля Crew Dragon взорвался при проверке систем аварийной посадки при появлении внештатной ситуации во время взлета или посадки корабля. Этот же корабль должен был быть запущен в космос в конце июня этого года для проверки работы этих систем в обстановке, максимально приближенной к реальному сбою во время полета.

Все дальнейшие испытания Crew Dragon, как отметила Людерс, будут отложены до тех пор, пока не завершится расследование ситуации, которое сейчас совместно проводят инженерные команды НАСА и SpaceX.

Если оно затянется, то и проверка систем экстренной посадки, и пробный пилотируемый полет капсулы будут отложены на неопределенный срок. При этом представительница НАСА не исключила того, что первый полет астронавтов на борту Crew Dragon не состоится в этом году.

Вне зависимости от того, когда и как завершится расследование, SpaceX придется серьезно переформатировать свои планы из-за того, что один из кораблей был безвозвратно потерян, хотя, как отметили в НАСА, его ключевые части, в том числе и двигатели, не были уничтожены во время взрыва.

Как отмечает SpaceNews, космический стартап, скорее всего, просто использует тот корабль, который был изначально запланирован для первого полета астронавтов на МКС, для испытаний аварийных систем. В свою очередь, первый пробный полет в космос будет осуществлен на космическом аппарате, который инженеры SpaceX собирают для первой "официальной" пилотируемой миссии.

Investigation into Crew Dragon incident continues

In a May 28 presentation to the NASA Advisory Council's human exploration and operations committee, Kathy Lueders, manager of the commercial crew program at NASA, offered few updates on the progress of the investigation into the April 20 incident at a SpaceX pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

In that incident, SpaceX was testing both the Draco thrusters and larger SuperDraco abort thrusters in preparation for an in-flight abort test of the capsule that, at the time, was scheduled for the end of June. "An anomaly occurred during activation of the SuperDraco system," she said, but offered no details on what caused that anomaly.

She also indicated that NASA has been kept in the loop about the accident and investigation, including NASA personnel who were at the SpaceX control room at the time the accident took place. A NASA team, she added, is embedded within SpaceX to help with the investigation, such as collecting all the data from the incident. SpaceX, though, is leading the investigation.

With that capsule destroyed, Lueders said that SpaceX will use the Crew Dragon spacecraft originally intended for the Demo-2 crewed flight test for the in-flight abort test. The Demo-2 mission will instead use the spacecraft SpaceX was building for the first operational mission, dubbed Crew-1.

With the investigation ongoing, Lueders said the dates of both the in-flight abort test and the Demo-2 mission are under review. Assembly of the Demo-2 capsule continues, she said, although she said workers are keeping open the vehicle's propulsion system in case they need to make modifications as a result of the investigation. "They're making progress in a lot of the other areas while trying to keep, most particularly in the prop area, access to the systems that may need to be modified," she said.

She didn't give an indication of when that investigation will be completed. "You don't push your anomaly investigation team too quick," she said, stressing the importance for them to be "methodical" while working through all parts of the fault tree of potential causes.

Later in the meeting, a committee member asked Lueders if Demo-2 could still fly this year. "They're getting their vehicle ready by the end of year," she said of SpaceX. "We need to close out the anomaly investigation. That's the big thing."

The accident, she said, was something of a "gift" to the program, since it took place on a test stand, giving them an opportunity to understand what may need to be modified. "We're learning a lot. Sometimes you learn more from a failure like this," she said.

In parallel with an on-going failure investigation, SpaceX is readying downstream Crew Dragon spacecraft for flight in hopes that corrective actions can be implemented in time to launch two astronauts to the International Space Station before the end of the year, a senior NASA manager said Tuesday.

SpaceX successfully launched an unpiloted Crew Dragon to the station in March on a mission known as Demo 1 and was gearing up to launch that same vehicle on another unpiloted mission in June to test its emergency abort system. That test was intended to clear the way for an initial test flight -- Demo 2 -- with astronauts on board later this summer.

But on April 20, the Crew Dragon slated for the in-flight abort test exploded on a test stand at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station an instant before a planned static firing of the capsule's eight Super Draco abort engines. No one was injured, but the Demo 1 capsule was destroyed.

Speaking to the NASA Advisory Council, Kathy Lueders, manager of NASA's commercial crew program, said the capsule originally intended to carry the first astronauts will now be used for the in-flight abort test and another downstream capsule, originally planned for the first operational Crew Dragon flight to the ISS, will serve as the Demo 2 vehicle.

While not providing any details about the cause of the explosion or what corrective actions might be required, Lueders said SpaceX is working to get the newly assigned Demo 2 capsule ready for flight "by the end of the year," processing the spacecraft in a way that will allow engineers to make downstream changes as needed.

"We need to close out the anomaly investigation," she said when asked about the schedule. "I think that's the big thing, we've got to make sure we've really taken our learning from this anomaly investigation and made sure that if we need to make a change to the vehicle that it gets done. I think that's the big thing.

"And obviously, we've still got to get through some more critical tests. Getting the in-flight abort test done is going to be a big deal for us. And then we've got parachute testing. Right now, there (are) no non-critical tests, all the tests are big. But SpaceX is working to get that vehicle outfitted and ready to go and have launch vehicles ready to go by the end of the year."

At the same time, Lueders said SpaceX is readying what used to be the Demo 2 capsule for the in-flight abort test "by the end of July," again assuming the failure investigation pins down the cause of the April 20 mishap and corrective actions are implemented.

SpaceX is leading the failure investigation, with direct NASA participation, and virtually no technical details have been released to date beyond confirmation the vehicle was destroyed in an "anomaly" that occurred an instant before the planned ignition of the Super Draco abort engines.

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said in an interview with CBS News last week that SpaceX's perceived lack of candor in the immediate aftermath of the test failure was not acceptable and promised more timely updates in the future.

"The communications that came from that, in my view, from their side was very poor, and it can't happen again that way," he said. "People need to get a better understanding earlier in the process, and NASA needs to be involved in making sure they're communicating what's happening."

But, he added, "what we don't want to do is get out wrong information because we went too fast."

"NASA and SpaceX, we have some really good ideas on what the core cause was, but we want to make sure we get it right before we go forward because if we don't have it right, then we'll have to put out new information and create even more confusion," Bridenstine said. "Which we don't want to do."

The Commercial Crew Program is the end result of a series of NASA-funded industry competitions in the wake of the shuttle's retirement to develop a new American spacecraft to carry astronauts to and from low-Earth orbit.

NASA has awarded Boeing multiple contracts totaling $4.82 billion to develop a commercial crew ship now known as the CST-100 Starliner, a capsule that will launch from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket.

SpaceX also won a series of contracts totaling some $3.1 billion to date to develop a piloted version of the company's Dragon cargo ship. The company holds a separate cargo contract valued at $3.04 billion for 20 space station resupply flights and another contract for an unspecified amount for at least six additional flights through 2024.

Lueders said Boeing, which has suffered its own test mishaps, hopes to be ready for an unpiloted test flight by the end of August. First launch of a CST-100 with astronauts on board is planned for late this year.

Меня просто удивила новость что они за месяц не смогли разобраться что там у них бабахнуло. Не почему оно взорвалось а даже что вобще собственно взорвалось.

"Аномалия" Старлайнера в июля прошлого года взывала  сдвиг сроков на 11 месяцев. 
Никакой информации, что там реально произошло и какие были доработки корабля не было и нет. 
Вот только вчера сообщили, что повторные испытания прошли успешно.

По аналогии, я думаю, мы так и не узнаем, что бабахнуло на Драгоне. А утечка видео отвратительного качество - недосмотр соответствующих органов.
А сдвиг сроков будет также где-то на год. Думаю DM-2 будет где-то в середине 2020 года.

Вообще, вся эта программа Commercial Crew идёт с какой-то нехарактерной для НАСА секретностью.
