THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Soon after Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s successful mission of PSLV-C34 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota on Wednesday that placed all the 20 satellites at one go, the heads of ISRO units including SDSC and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) indicate that the entire team is now focussed on their next mission of PSLV-C35 launch planned for August.
 
"A review meet will be convened by ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar soon to finalise on further missions including GSLV-Mark III and the demo project of Air Breathing Propulsion System (ABPS) for advanced space missions. Now with this milestone of 20 satellites launch in a single mission and its successful restart exercise of the fourth-stage engine PS4, it offers the required start for the next mission of PSLV-C35 planned in August first week for launch of two satellites in different orbits," SDSC director P Kunhikrishnan told TOI.

Strikingly, VSSC director K Sivan told TOI that, "all the 20 satellites injected into the orbit on board PSLV-C34 are being tracked and are in control. The rocket's fourth stage PS4 propellant engine demonstrated two complex tasks, 50 minutes after the satellites were injected into the orbit. The engine was cut off for 30 seconds and then re-ignited. It offers more poise for the next mission of PSLV- C35 to launch satellites in two different orbits".

India will launch a weather satellite next month with its heavy rocket, the geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV-Mk II), Indian space agency chief A.S. Kiran Kumar said in Chennai on Friday.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) will launch INSAT-3DR next month with its GSLV rocket, said Kiran Kumar at the Madras Institute of Technology Alumni Association meeting in Chennai.
He also said Isro is targeting to increase the number of its satellite and rocket launches from the current six-eight per year to 12-18 per year.
Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) director K. Sivan said that Isro will also be launching ScatSat - a weather monitoring and forecasting satellite - with polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV).
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, he said that the Indian satellite will be a co-passenger to an Algerian satellite.
"Both the satellites will be put into different orbits. So the fourth stage/engine of the rocket will be switched off after ejecting ScatSat first. Then after a gap of around 30 minutes, the engine will be switched on and put the Algerian satellite into its intended orbit," Sivan said.
According to him, the year end is expected to see the launch of GSLV-Mk-III with communication satellite GSAT 19 weighing around 3.2 ton - the heaviest satellite to be lifted by an Indian rocket from the Sriharikota rocket port in Andhra Pradesh.
Sivan also said Isro will soon be testing its scramjet or air breathing engine for use future use to power Indian rockets.
The scramjet engine used only during the atmospheric phase of the rocket's flight will help in bringing down the launch cost by reducing the amount of oxidiser to be carried along with the fuel.

Preparations for the launch of weather satellite INSAT-3DR with the geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV-MkII) next month are progressing at Sriharikota, officials said on Friday.
"The weather satellite INSAT-3DR will be put into orbit by a GSLV rocket August end. Preparations for the launch are going on," P. Kunhi Krishnan, Director of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), told IANS.
India's rocket port is located in SDSC in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
It is learnt that the launch is tentatively slated for August 28.
A senior official of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) told IANS that the satellite is yet to reach the rocket port.
Normally the satellites reach the rocket port around a couple of weeks before the launch date.
"With improved shock absorbing aspects during the transit, nowadays Indian satellites are first sent to filling of fuel and then to the clean room. We have avoided one testing stage of the satellite and thereby cutting down the launch time," a senior Isro official told IANS.
"However foreign satellites that Isro launches with its PSLV rockets will be tested in full without skipping even the first clean room," he added.
In September 2016, Isro will launch ScatSat - a weather monitoring and forecasting satellite - with polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV).

Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has drawn up plans to make two-three GSLV missions every year, a top official said on Thursday.
The space agency registered a hat-trick of success on launch of geosynchronous launch vehicles with Thursday's GSLV-F05 flight carrying advanced weather satellite INSAT-3DR and placing it in GTO successfully.
"We had a very successful flight of GSLV-Mk II. This is third consecutive GSLV-Mk II launch with indigenous cryogenic upper stage. Last August (2015) we had successful launch of GSLV-D6. Our intent is to launch two-three GSLV-MkII missions every year in the coming years," Isro chairman AS Kiran Kumar told reporters at Sriharikota.
GSLV rockets using the indigenous Cryogenic Upper Stage are designated GSLV Mk II.
Noting that Isro scientists have geared to launch the 'SCATSAT' in two to three weeks followed by the 'GSLV-MkIII', he said, Isro was also working on launching vehicles to Venus or to Asteroids.
"We have lined up plans to launch the Communication satellite, Saarc satellite, Earth Observation Satellite. Then we have Chandrayaan-II, we have Isro-Nasa Mission. Launch of ADITYA is also under progress. We also have the MARS Mission II. We are looking at going to Venus or to Asteroids. The discussions are going on," Kumar said.
On today's successful launch, project director Uma Maheshwaran said, "this (today's launch) has been a fantastic mission. In fact this is the first hat-trick of GSLV. PSLV also has so many hat-tricks till now. This is the first mission carrying heaviest satellite that was successfully deployed," he said.
Noting that the Isro scientists have worked on "shortest working campaign" towards the launch of GSLV-F05, Project Director, Maheshwaran said, "we had lot of PSLV missions. we are also planning to have two to three GSLV launches per year. Really we are striving for more (launches)."
"In today's launch, all the parameters were perfect. The cryogenic stage has performed exceptionally well. It is a remarkable mission. Against the planned target of perigee of 170 km plus or minus five km, the launch (of satellite in GTO) happened at 169.7 km. It is a precise text book launch," he said.

 GSAT-11, India's advanced and heaviest communication spacecraft to date at 5,700 kg, is to be launched early next year on the European Ariane launch vehicle.
 The high-throughput satellite with its multi-spot beam coverage of the country will be far superior to the older generation three-tonne INSAT/GSAT spacecraft.  
 GSAT-11 is designed to generate a bandwidth of more than 12 gbps primarily for users of Internet driven services, VSAT operations and rural connectivity.

 5 commercial satellites
 
 Globally many operators are putting up such high throughput satellites for commercial use while ISRO is working on putting up five such in the near future.
 Paris-based launch company Arianespace announced this latest order from old customer Indian Space Research Organisation; GSAT-11 would be its 21st Indian spacecraft.
 M. Annadurai, Director of ISRO Satellite Centre or ISAC, Bengaluru, said, "The satellite is getting integrated [at ISAC.]. We are targeting the first quarter of 2017 for its launch."
 This would be the first spacecraft to be integrated on ISRO's new i-6k platform, he told The Hindu.
 The INSAT/GSATs have not exceeded 3,400 kg; the last heaviest was GSAT-10 launched in 2012.
 Also, ISRO's newly readied medium-lift launcher can only lift satellites up to 2,000 kg. Arianespace quoted its Chairman and CEO Stéphane Israël announcing the GSAT-11 contract along with five other global launch orders.
