ЦитироватьAfter the successful test-flight of Agnibaan SOrTeD, Chennai-based space start-up Agnikul Cosmos is hoping to start launching satellites early next year.

In an interview with PTI, Agnikul co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Srinath Ravichandran said the 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engines and the rocket will offer quick turnaround for customers who will be able to have customised launch vehicles for their satellites.

"Nine to 12 months I would say. Probably by the end of this financial year or the early part of the next financial year is what we are targeting," Mr. Ravichandran said when asked about the commercial orbital launch of the Agnibaan rocket.
...
"We are already in the middle of building rigs at our facility. We will take six-seven months to get that and from there we will be able to target the orbital mission in the next three months," he said.

During a speech at Akashvani, the ISRO chief also stated that a joint moon-landing mission with Japan space agency JAXA would be the Chandrayaan-5 mission
ISRO chairman S Somanath revealed new dates for upcoming space missions on Saturday, while delivering the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture at Akashvani (All India Radio), reported The Indian Express.

Manned space mission Gaganyaanis likely to be launched in 2026; sample return mission Chandrayaan-4 in 2028, and the much-anticipated India-US joint NISAR venture in 2025.
Chairman Somanath also disclosed that Chandrayaan-5 would be a joint moon-landing mission with Japan space agency JAXA. Originally named LUPEX, or Lunar Polar Exploration, the time frame of this new mission was not specified but is likely after 2028.
He also stated that this would be a very heavy mission - the rover on Chandrayaan-3 was only 27 kg in weight while in Chandrayaan-5 it would be 350 kg.
"It would be a very heavy mission in which the lander would be provided by India, while the rover would come from Japan. It is a science heavy mission which would take us one step closer to landing human beings on the moon," Somanath was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
The Indian space body has plans of having a manned mission to the moon by 2040.
During his address at Akashvani, the ISRO chief also emphasised the need to grow India's space sector, aiming to increase its contribution on a global scale to at least 10 per cent in this decade, up from the current 2 per cent.
Somanath said that the participation of the private sector, new policies enabling entrepreneurship were required for this growth.
"Several industries, big and small, have expressed interest in investing in the space sector. And ISRO is doing its best to help them come and participate. Lots of activities which could traditionally be done only by ISRO are now being done by private industry," Somanath added according to The Indian Express.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India's ambitious Gaganyaan manned space mission has been postponed to 2026, a delay from the previously scheduled launch in 2025
During the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture on Delhi Aakashvani, ISRO Chairman Dr S Somanath provided updates on the mission. As part of the Gaganyaan program, two unmanned test missions are set to precede the crewed launch. Gaganyaan 1 (G-1) is expected to be tested by the end of this year, followed by Gaganyaan 2 (G-2) next year, although it remains unclear if these tests will also face delays.
The Gaganyaan mission aims to send a three-member crew into orbit at an altitude of 400 km for a three-day mission before safely returning them to Earth. Among the selected astronauts are Palakkad native Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair, along with Group Captains Ajith Krishnan and Subhanshu Shukla, all of whom have completed their training.
Additionally, the launch of NISAR, an Earth observation satellite developed in collaboration with NASA, has also been postponed. Originally slated for launch in December, the NISAR satellite will now be launched next year.

ЦитироватьISRO gears up for 'Space handshake' SPADEX; private firm delivers two satellites
Chennai, IndiaWritten By: Sidharth MPUpdated: Oct 18, 2024, 03:50 PM IST
As part of this mission, these two satellites will be hurled into slightly different orbits by a single rocket.
Story highlights
Ananth Technologies Private Limited (ATL), completed the integration of two 400kg satellites for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and handed them over at ISROs UR Rao Satellite Centre(URSC), Bengaluru.
The Indian Space agency has taken possession of two 400kg satellites that are part of a crucial upcoming mission known as SPADEX – Space Docking Experiment. As part of this mission, these two satellites will be hurled into slightly different orbits by a single rocket.
Eventually, the satellites that are travelling at around 28,000 kmph will precisely align themselves in a manner where they can perform a 'space handshake' and dock (mechanically attach themselves) to form a single orbiting entity. This experiment gains significance as docking is a major enabler of future missions such as Chandrayaan-4 and Bharatiya Antariksha Space Station (the proposed Indian Space Station).
Ananth Technologies Private Limited (ATL), completed the integration of two 400kg satellites for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and handed them over at ISRO's UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, the facility meant for designing and developing satellites.
ISRO always builds their satellites at the URSC, but this is the first time that ISRO is getting their satellites completely assembled, integrated and tested by the Indian private industry at a private facility. This shift is enabled by the space sector reforms that grant greater opportunities to the Indian private sector.

"We have been manufacturing electronic subsystems for ISRO since 2000 and have been an integral part of every Indian space mission over the last two decades," said Dr Subba Rao Pavuluri, chairman of ATL. The assembly, integration and testing of the satellites were done at our Bengaluru facility in a record three months, the ISRO scientist-turned-entrepreneur told WION.
SPADEX is a mission that is meant to demonstrate autonomous rendezvous and docking, the ability of two spacecraft to function as one unit, manoeuvre itself etc. Docking is a fundamental requirement for building and maintaining a space station.
Every time astronauts are launched to the space station, their capsule has to precisely dock with the space station, following which the crew and cargo can enter the space station.
SPADEX is crucial to India's ambitions as the country looks to assemble an Indian space station from 2028 onwards.
By scaling up the technologies demonstrated in SPADEX, it will be possible to robotically assemble the modules (large components) of the space station. India's Chandrayaan-4 mission to return Lunar samples will also involve autonomous docking while circling the moon.
Given that the satellites have been delivered to the URSC, they would soon be trucked to the Indian Spaceport at Sriharikota, from where they could be further tested, fuelled, and launched in the coming months.

BENGALURU: Isro, which has for long had in its pipeline the splitting up of a satellite and then re-uniting it in space as part of the Space Docking Experiment (Spadex) mission, is hoping to achieve it by mid Dec.

In an exclusive interview, Isro chairman S Somanath told TOI: "Docking is an integral part of Chandrayaan-4 and Spadex is a precursor which we had planned. Currently Spadex satellites are under integration. It will be completed in a month's time. Then it will go for full-fledged testing, demonstration of simulation and everything. We're hoping to have a launch before Dec 15."

ЦитироватьTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch two satellites, 'Chaser' and 'Target', on December 15, as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX). This experiment aims to test the technology for docking satellites in space, a crucial step towards establishing India's own space station and supporting the Gaganyaan mission. SPADEX was built at Thiruvananthapuram Kinfra park-based Anant Technologies' Bengaluru centre.
This mission is crucial for retrieving objects from other planets and space stations and bringing them back to Earth, as well as transporting humans to planets and space stations and returning them safely. The robotic arm can capture orbiting satellites, refuel them, extend their lifespan, repair damages, and install new equipment. This can reduce launch costs. The robotic arm will also capture and dispose of space debris.

Two satellites will perform special handshake1
1 The Target and Chaser satellites, each weighing 400 kg, will be launched together on a PSLV-C60 rocket into two slightly different orbits.
