Элемент защиты от микрометеоритов, который был потерян в четверг во время выхода астронавтов NASA Роберта Шейн Кимброу и Пегги Уитсон, не представляет угрозы. Об этом сообщили эксперты Центра управления полетами в Хьюстоне (штат Техас), комментируя прямую телетрансляции с борта МКС.
"Потерянный элемент защиты от микрометеоритов находится впереди по курсу станции и не представляет опасности для ее работы или жизни астронавтов", - отметили специалисты. На кадрах, переданных с МКС, этот элемент выглядит как неподвижная яркая точка.
Планировалось, что во время выхода в космос, рассчитанного на 6 часов 30 минут, астронавты продолжат работы по подготовке стыковочного узла для приема американских космических кораблей, подсоединят его к кабелям, а также установят четыре щитка для защиты от микрометеоритов. Один из этих щитков и был утрачен. После завершения этого этапа работ астронавты вернутся к шлюзу и будут ожидать дальнейших инструкций от Центра управления полетами.
Для Кимброу это уже шестой выход за борт МКС, для Уитсон - восьмой. По завершении нынешнего выхода в открытый космос общий срок пребывания 57-летней Уитсон за бортом МКС может превысить прежний рекорд, установленный астронавтом НАСА Сунитой Уильямс и составляющий 50 часов 40 минут.
Помимо Кимброу и Уитсон вахту на МКС несут россияне Андрей Борисенко, Сергей Рыжиков и Олег Новицкий, а также астронавт Европейского космического агентства Тома Песке.
