Космический грузовик через неделю отвезет на МКС лук и майонез
МОСКВА, 9 февраля. /ТАСС/. Около 20 кг свежих овощей и фруктов получит экипаж Международной космической станции с грузовым кораблем "Прогресс М-26М", который отправится на орбиту 17 февраля. Кроме того, космонавты заказали майонез и горчицу, сообщил ТАСС завотделом питания экипажа МКС Института медико-биологических проблем РАН Александр Агуреев.
"На корабле будут отправлены, как обычно, стандартные и дополнительные рационы питания, а также набор свежих плодов и овощей - яблоки, апельсины, грейпфруты, лук репчатый", - сказал он.
Российские члены экипажа получат и американские продукты, которые раньше задержались на таможне. "Вмешались представители Роскосмоса и эти рационы были благополучно доставлены", - пояснил Агуреев.
Ранее сообщалось, что американские продукты для россиян на борту МКС застряли на таможне, поскольку попали под ограничения, введенные Россией. В этой партии не было продуктов для американских и европейских астронавтов, отметил тогда директор программ пилотируемых космических полетов НАСА в России Шон Фуллер. Какие именно продукты заказали российские космонавты, Фуллер не сообщил.

INTERFAX.RU - Введенные Россией в качестве ответной меры на западные санкции ограничения на поставки ряда продуктов питания из США и ЕС могут оставить американских и европейских астронавтов на Международной космической станции (МКС) без еды, сообщили в четверг "Интерфаксу" в российской ракетно-космической отрасли.

Уилльям Харвуд немного запамятовал, так как в декабре отказал блок FPS в скафандре EMU №3005, а в январе - в EMU №3011, но то, что надо разобраться перед предстоящими в феврале-марте выходами в открытый космос - это точно и правильно.

"The spacecraft was packed with frozen experiment samples, trash, no-longer-needed equipment and two malfunctioning spacesuit components that NASA needs to inspect before clearing station commander Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Terry Virts for the first of three planned spacewalks starting later this month.
The suits that will be used by Wilmore and Virts passed their pre-EVA tests with flying colors, but during routine tests of another spacesuit in December, a fan pump separator, used in the suit's water cooling system, failed to start. The unit was replaced with a spare, but it, too, malfunctioned during a test last month.
Both units will be returned to the spacesuit vendor, United Technologies Aerospace Systems, for detailed inspections. Depending on the results, Wilmore and Virts will either be cleared to proceed with their planned spacewalks or the work will be deferred pending additional troubleshooting.
As it now stands, NASA plans three spacewalks -- Feb. 20, 24 and March 1 -- to install cabling and other equipment needed to prepare the lab for new docking mechanisms that will be used by commercial crew ferry craft being built by Boeing and SpaceX"

Remote Power Control Module (RPCM) Change Out: Yesterday, the Robotics Ground Controllers powered up the Mobile Servicing System (MSS) and set up the Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS) and Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (SPDM) to change out the previously failed RPCM P12B_C. The new RPCM was powered up without incident, and the failed RPCM was placed into its new stowage slot and survival heater power was applied.

Spacesuit woes haunt NASA ahead of crucial spacewalks

With three complicated spacewalks planned in the coming days, NASA is rushing to resolve a spacesuit problem linked to a 2013 emergency when water dangerously flooded a European astronaut's helmet.
The spacesuits that will be worn by astronauts Barry Wilmore and Terry Virts on their ventures outside the International Space Station are in working order, NASA said Wednesday, but engineers are concerned about a recurring issue with a piece of equipment known as the fan pump separator, part of the spacesuit's temperature control system.
"That is the same area of concern we had back in 2013 when we had the issue of the water in the helmet," said Kenneth Todd, International Space Station Operations and Integration manager, in a briefing with reporters to outline plans for the trio of spacewalks to install new docking stations for commercial cargo at the orbiting lab.
NASA was alerted to the problem when astronauts were doing spacesuit maintenance in December and found that the fan pump in one suit did not speed up as expected.
A new fan pump separator that was on board the space station was installed as a replacement "and it has been working with no issues since that point," said Todd.
However, when NASA commander Wilmore was scrubbing cooling loops on another US spacesuit on January 20, he heard an "abnormally loud fan pump separator," according to NASA's blog of space station activities.
"We were doing the same kind of activity and encountered the same type of failure," Todd told reporters.
"That got us thinking: what has changed? What is happening?"
A new spacesuit was shipped to the outpost and will be worn by Wilmore during the spacewalks.
The other spacesuit, with the replacement part, will be worn by Virts. Its fan pump separator has shown some signs of corrosion, but it is working, Todd said.
"The two suits we are going out with have operated every time we turned them on," he said.
Engineers believe that small amounts of water are building up in the bearings inside the fan pump separator each time the suit is powered up and powered down, leading to corrosion over time.
The issue is related to the water-in-helmet leak that nearly drowned Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano during a spacewalk in July 2013—he rushed back into the space station and quickly recovered—but is not expected to cause a similar gush of water, Todd said.
"With the water in the helmet, that was a totally different root cause issue. That was an issue with port holes getting clogged up in the water separator, that was due to the water chemistry," he explained.
"That is not an issue here. What we are talking about is a failure of the pump to start up. That in itself is not a water-type of event."
If the pump were to fail, the astronauts would have to end their spacewalk and return to the hatch.
"This is not a risk to the crew in terms of loss of life," said Todd.
A final decision about whether or not the spacewalks—known as extra-vehicular activities, or EVAs—can begin Friday as planned depends on the outcome of further tests, and should be announced on Thursday.
"All indicators are—based on all the data from the ground testing as well as the testing of the suits on orbit—is that we will work our way through this and these suits are going to be okay. But we have some open work left to do," said Todd.

NanoRack Cubesat Deployer (NRCSD) Installation: Wilmore installed two sets of NRCSD-Quad units onto the Multipurpose Experiment Platform (MPEP) which is attached to the slide table in the JEM Airlock (JEMAL). Video and electronic still photos of installation operations were downlinked. The planned jettison of the16 cubesats are scheduled to begin 27 February.

На российском сегменте Международной космической станции идет «Ураган». Так называется научный эксперимент, в ходе которого космонавты апробируют методы визуального наблюдения земной поверхности. Как говорят сами участники эксперимента – следят за динамикой Земли. Из космоса можно увидеть многое – даже миграцию птиц. Но главная цель – выявление и предупреждение по определенным факторам природных и техногенных катастроф на планете.

Пока МКС летит над Землей, комментатор NASA Роберт Навиас рассказывает о том, что через месяц будет праздноваться полувековая годовщина первого выхода человека в открытый космос, а в июле - 40-летний юбилей полетов "Союза-19" и "Аполлона" по программе ЭПАС.
