Antares has reached the pad!
Antares made its journey to @Virginia_Space's Pad 0A this morning to get ready for launch Nov. 6 at 5:50 a.m. ET. Later today, the vehicle will be stood up for testing before it's lowered back down for final cargo loading over the weekend.

The Antares launch this morning will go from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) at Wallops Island, Virginia.

Wallops was one of the first launch sites in the US, with endoatmospheric test rockets flying since the 1940s and suborbital space launches staring in 1954.

The Antares 230+ rocket uses a first stage built in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine and RD-181 engines from Russia.
 Fortunately Northrop Grumman had a couple of these already in Virginia at the start of the current unpleasantness.

The Antares 230+ second stage uses a Castor 30XL solid motor built by NG's Utah factory (formerly Hercules). The 1.2-tonne empty stage will be left in orbit for an uncontrolled reentry.

As well as the main Cygnus cargo ship, the Antares has two Planetary Systems Corp. cubesat dispensers on its second stage, which will deploy the Old Dominion U.'s SeaLion and Va Tech's Ut ProSat-1 into very low orbit.

Cygnus NG-18 (the S.S. Sally RIde)  will rendezvous with the ISS; the Canadarm-2 robot arm will berth it on the station for cargo unloading. At end of mission it will be released into orbit and will do a suicide dive to burn up over a targeted location in the S Pacific
·
NG-18 carries four cubesats in a Japanese J-SSOD-R dispenser which will be tra nsferred to the ISS Kibo module and later deployed into orbit via the Kibo airlock and the Japanese robot arm.

One of the J-SSOD payloads is a 1U cubesat from Kindai University called SpaceTuna1. The satellite carres a laser tracking experiment that sadly has nothing to do with actual tuna fish.

Also aboard: a 1U cubesat PEARLAFRICASAT 1 built by Ugandan students at Kyutech for the Ugandan Ministry of Sci.,Tech. and Innovation; and ZIMSAT-1, built by  Zimbabwean students at Kyutech for the Zimbabwean space agency ZINGA

The final J-SSOD-R payload (that I know of)  is a 2U cubesat from Kyushu Inst of Tech. called TAKA.

НЬЮ-ЙОРК, 7 ноября. /ТАСС/. Американский космический корабль Cygnus стартовал в понедельник с космодрома на острове Уоллопс (восточное побережье США, штат Вирджиния) с миссией по доставке грузов на Международную космическую станцию (МКС). Трансляция ведется на сайте Национального управления США по аэронавтике и исследованию космического пространства (NASA).
Корабль был запущен с помощью ракеты-носителя Antares корпорации Northrop Grumman, первая ступень которой оснащена российскими двигателями РД-181 разработки НПО "Энергомаш".
Запуск аппарата произошел в 5:33 по местному времени (13:33 мск). На его борту находится 3,5 тонны грузов, в том числе оборудование для проведения экспериментов, в частности, по созданию искусственных человеческих тканей, а также по генетическим особенностям выращенных в невесомости растений. Cygnus также выведет на орбиту первые спутники Зимбабве и Уганды.
Ожидается, что "Сигнус" прибудет на МКС 9 ноября, его захват и стыковку к станции будет осуществлять астронавт NASA Николь Манн с помощью руки-манипулятора Canadarm 2, помогать ей будет также астронавт NASA Джош Кассада. Аппарат пробудет на орбите несколько месяцев, по окончании миссии заберет со станции мусор и отходы и спустя примерно две недели сгорит в плотных слоях атмосферы.
