T+plus 16 minutes. The AVUM fourth stage has ended the first of four engine burns required on tonight's mission. A second AVUM firing is scheduled for 9:44 p.m. EST (0244 GMT) to set the stage for deployment of Spain's SEOSAT-Ingenio Earth observation satellite.

The rocket is now passing in range of a ground station in Saint-Hubert, Quebec.

They aren't speculating, but it seems this started to go wrong during the first burn of the AVUM. Likely underperformance. Mission is lost.

Arianespace chief executive Stéphane Israël says the Vega rocket suffered an "anomaly" after liftoff from French Guiana tonight.

Teams are waiting for another ground station pass in hopes to getting more data.

@AstroVicnet petit résumé pour Vega : Un peu avant l'extinction de l'AVUM, la vitesse a commencé à diminué et la trajectoire à fait ça. On attends que la prochaine station (Australie) récupère la télémétrie pour en savoir plus et si c'est corrigeable ou pas. On attends donc.
