The expected 4 objects have been cataloged from the Ariane 5 launch, in 253-318 km x 35500-35874 km x 5.1 deg orbits, confirming successful launch.

.@inmarsat & @Thales_Alenia_S report that both GX-5 and Egyptian govt TIBA-1 sats are healthy in orbit, sending signals. Mission success for @Arianespace Ariane 5 in 250th Ariane launch since Dec. 1979.@AirbusSpace @ArianeGroup

These photos were taken on a Canon 40D, a 10 megapixel camera from 2007. Partly because they were so close/at risk of being destroyed but partly to demonstrate their capability. The gear may ~take~ a photo but the gear never ~makes~ a photo

WOW.

Here are closeup photos I captured of the Ariane 5 #VA250 launch from French Guiana yesterday evening!

I'm at a loss for words. This was an incredible opportunity and I couldn't be more thankful to @ESA / @ArianeGroup for their support.

Sometimes you've got to... risk it... for the biscuit?

@trevormahlmann and my cameras were on one of the flame trenches at the Ariane 5 launchpad. The lenses are permanently toast (& will produce cloudy/blurry images), but after a thorough cleaning, everything is functional!

Here is the final frame one of my remote cameras made before the buffer filled So lucky!!

Such immense, yet controlled power. Two EAP and one Vulcain (LH2/LOX) engine loft the Ariane 5 and TIBA-1/Inmarsat GX5 to geostationary transfer orbit.

INMARSAT GX5 практически на геостационаре, сейчас около точки 84.18°E
