The Epsilon rocket is Japan's small-class space launcher alongside the heavier-duty H-2A and H-2B rockets sized to deliver large communications satellites and space station supply ships to orbit.
The Epsilon draws upon technologies from the H-2A and Japan's retired M-5 rocket, the country's previous light-class booster.
