Horizons 3e separation confirmed. The 14,200-pound (6,441-kilogram) spacecraft built by Boeing has been released from the Ariane 5's Sylda dual-satellite adapter structure to begin a 15-year mission managed under a joint venture between Intelsat and SKY Perfect JSAT of Tokyo. The Horizons 3e satellite will provide high-bandwidth Internet and other services over the Asia-Pacific.

The 7,716-pound (3,500-kilogram) Azerspace 2/Intelsat 38 satellite, built by SSL in Palo Alto, California, has separated from the Ariane 5 rocket. The spacecraft is a joint program between Azercosmos -- Azerbaijan's national satellite operator -- and Intelsat. It will provide direct-to-home broadcast services over parts of Europe, the Middle East and South Asia, and support government services over tropical Africa.
