The Arabsat 6A communications satellite, the payload for the Falcon Heavy's second launch, is ready for flight, according to Guy Beutelschies, vice president of communication satellite solutions at Lockheed Martin.

Built at Lockheed Martin's facility in Denver and tested for spaceflight at the company's plant in Sunnyvale, California, Arabsat 6A is heading to geostationary orbit on a 15-year mission to provide television, radio and data relay services over the Middle East and North Africa for Arabsat, an operator headquartered in Saudi Arabia.

Since its shipment to Florida's Space Coast in January, Arabsat 6A has been filled with hydrazine fuel and nitrogen tetroxide oxidizer for its orbit-raising main engine. The final preparatory steps for the spacecraft were completed Tuesday, when the satellite was mated to the Falcon Heavy's payload adapter and enclosed within the rocket's nose cone.

Once the Falcon Heavy rocket completes its hold-down firing, now scheduled for no earlier than Thursday, the satellite will be attached to the top of the launcher. Liftoff from pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center is scheduled for Sunday, at the earliest, but the launch date will not be confirmed until the competition of the static fire test.

The Falcon Heavy rocket has arrived at launch pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida after a middle-of-the-night rollout in preparation for a hold-down engine firing scheduled later today.

The hotfire test window opens at 6 p.m. EDT (2200 GMT). The Falcon Heavy's 27 engines will ignite for several seconds, throttling up to roughly 5 million pounds of thrust as hold-down clamps keep the rocket on the ground.

Later this morning, SpaceX ground crews are expected to raise the Falcon Heavy vertical in preparation for loading of the launcher with super-chilled, densified kerosene and liquid oxygen propellants.

Well here you go. A look inside the HIF at part of the #FalconHeavy. Note the wear on the nose cone - likely indicating that the nose cone is being reused from the first FH flight last year. #SpaceX #Arabsat6A

Due to bad storms that moved through the area and a lightning advisory at the Cape and Kennedy, static fire will not be occurring at the opening of the window. #FalconHeavy #SpaceX
