The Expedition 55 crew is unloading the Orbital ATK Cygnus space freighter today ahead of next week's crew swap at the International Space Station. On top of the cargo transfers and crew departure activities, the orbital residents are also running space experiments to benefit humans on Earth and astronauts in space.

ЕКАТЕРИНБУРГ, 30 мая — РИА Новости. Российский поисково-спасательный отряд вылетел в Республику Казахстан для обеспечения встречи участников международной экспедиции МКС, сообщает в среду Центральный военный округ (ЦВО).

"Восемь транспортно-боевых вертолетов Ми-8 Центрального военного округа вылетели сегодня с южноуральского аэродрома Упрун. Четыре поисково-эвакуационные машины-амфибии были переброшены к месту посадки транспортными самолетами Ан-12. Всего в обеспечении задействовано 12 вертолетов Ми-8, три самолета Ан-12 и один Ан-26, 20 единиц автомобильной и специальной техники, в том числе шесть машин-амфибий, а также около 200 человек личного состава", — говорится в сообщении.

Ранее сообщалось, что два вертолета Ми-8 вылетели в Казахстан для проведения разведки района предполагаемого приземления капсулы.

NASA Television to Air Return of One Space Station Crew, Launch of Another


After 168 days on the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Scott Tingle returns to Earth June 3, 2018, with Expedition 55 crewmates Anton Shkaplerov of the Russian space agency Roscosmos and Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. Three of the crew members currently aboard the International Space Station are scheduled to end their mission on the orbiting laboratory on Sunday, June 3. A few days later, another trio of space travelers will depart for the station on a launch scheduled for Wednesday, June 6. Live coverage of both the landing and launch will air live on NASA Television and the agency's website.

In advance of the departure, the traditional change of command ceremony on Friday, June 1, will see Expedition 55 Commander Anton Shkaplerov of Roscosmos hand over command of the station to NASA's Drew Feustel for Expedition 56.

Shkaplerov and Flight Engineers Scott Tingle of NASA and Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will close the hatch to the Soyuz MS-07 spacecraft and undock from the Rassvet module as they head for a parachute-assisted landing on the steppe of Kazakhstan a little more than three hours later. The crew is completing a mission spanning 168 days, with 2,688 orbits of the Earth and a journey of 71.2 million miles. The mission also marks the first spaceflight for Tingle.

After landing, the crew will return by helicopter to the recovery staging city in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, wh ere Tingle and Kanai will board a NASA plane for a flight back to Houston while Shkaplerov returns to his home in Star City, Russia.

Three Expedition 55 crew members are returning to Earth Sunday, but first the Commander will hand over control of the International Space Station in a ceremony Friday afternoon. In the meantime, the crew managed to continue ongoing space research and station maintenance.

Cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, who has been leading the station crew since February, will turn over command of the orbital laboratory to NASA astronaut Drew Feustel during the traditional Change of Command Ceremony at 2:25 p.m. EDT Friday live on NASA TV.

Next, the International Space Station Program turns its attention to the undocking Sunday at 5:16 a.m. of Shkaplerov with crewmates Scott Tingleand Norishige Kanai inside the Soyuz MS-07 spacecraft. The trio will parachute to a landing in Kazakhstan at 8:40 a.m. (6:40 p.m. Kazakh time) after 168 days in space. NASA TV begins it live coverage starting at 1:30 a.m. when the crew says farewell and closes the hatches to their Soyuz vehicle.

3 июня 2018 года на Международной космической станции (МКС) завершается работа 55-й длительной экспедиции. Участники экспедиции МКС-54/55, члены международного экипажа транспортного пилотируемого корабля (ТПК) «Союз МС-07» космонавт Антон ШКАПЛЕРОВ (РОСКОСМОС), астронавты Скотт ТИНГЛ (NASA) и Норишиге КАНАИ (JAXA) готовятся к возвращению на Землю.

Сегодня, 1 июня, в 21:25 мск на МКС состоится церемония передачи командования. Полномочия управление станцией и символический ключ передаст командир экспедиции МКС-55 космонавт РОСКОСМОСА Антон ШКАПЛЕРОВ командиру экспедиции МКС-56 астронавту NASA Эндрю ФОЙСТЕЛУ.

В настоящее время в соответствии с планом полёта осуществляется укладка возвращаемых грузов в спускаемый аппарат ТПК «Союз МС-07», проводятся бортовые тренировки экипажа и проверки основных систем корабля. Приземление спускаемого аппарата корабля «Союз МС-07» ожидается в 15:40 мск юго-восточнее города Жезказган в Казахстане.

МОСКВА, 3 июня. /ТАСС/. Участники длительной экспедиции на Международную космическую станцию (МКС) возвращаются на Землю. В этот раз космонавты доставят из космоса мяч чемпионата мира по футболу, который пройдет с 14 июня по 15 июля в 11 городах России.

"Спускаемая капсула с экипажем длительной экспедиции МКС-54/55 в составе космонавта Роскосмоса Антона Шкаплерова, астронавта NASA Скотта Тингла и астронавта Японского агентства аэрокосмических исследований Норисигэ Канаи должна приземлиться в 15:41 мск в степях Казахстана недалеко от города Жезказган", - сказали в Центре управления полетами.

Ожидается, что Шкаплеров возьмет с собой мяч, который планируется использовать в первой игре чемпионата мира. Мяч на орбиту доставил космонавт Олег Артемьев 24 марта на пилотируемом корабле "Союз МС-08" (стартовал с Байконура 21 марта). Ранее Шкаплеров и Артемьев провели на МКС футбольный матч, в условиях невесомости космонавты пытались забить друг другу гол в импровизированные ворота, которыми стал квадратный проход в американский модуль "Гармония".

На МКС продолжит работу экипаж в составе Эндрю Фойстела (США, командир экспедиции), Олега Артемьева (Россия) и Ричарда Арнольда (США). Уже 6 июня с космодрома Байконур на корабле "Союз МС-09" на орбиту стартует следующая экспедиция в составе российского космонавта Сергея Прокопьева и астронавтов из США и Германии Серены Ауньон и Александера Герста.

Космонавты перейдут со станции на борт "Союза МС-07", который пристыкован к модулю "Рассвет", и закроют переходные люки в районе 08:45 - 09:15 мск. По данным Центра управления полетами, в 12:16 мск с Земли будет дана команда на расстыковку "Союза МС-07" с МКС. До 12:30 мск должно произойти отделение корабля от станции.

В 14:48 мск "Союз" включит двигатели для схода с орбиты. В 15:17 мск спускаемый аппарат с космонавтами войдет в атмосферу, в это время на несколько минут связь с экипажем будет затруднена. В 15:26 мск над "Союзом" раскроется основной парашют В 15:41 мск капсула с космонавтами должна приземлиться.

Для обеспечения поисково-спасательной операции с аэродрома Упрун в Челябинской области были перебазированы в Казахстан вертолеты Центрального военного округа с оперативной группой на борту. Позже два транспортно-боевых Ми-8 вылетели из Жезказгана на разведку района предполагаемой посадки "Союза МС-07". Группа проверила район на наличие природных пожаров, скоплений воды, техники и искусственных сооружений.

Всего в поисково-спасательной операции задействованы 12 вертолетов Ми-8, три самолета Ан-12 и один Ан-26, 20 единиц автомобильной и специальной техники, в том числе шесть машин-амфибий, а также около 200 человек личного состава.

With three space station fliers heading home Sunday after a 168-day mission, three fresh crew members made final preparations for launch three days later to boost the lab's crew back to six in a rapid-fire rotation that will prevent any major interruption of research activity.

Soyuz MS-07/53S commander Anton Shkaplerov, NASA flight engineer Scott Tingle and Japanese physician-astronaut Norishige Kanai plan to strap into their ferry ship and undock from the station's Earth-facing Rassvet module at 5:16 a.m. EDT (GMT-4) Sunday, leaving Expedition 56 commander Drew Feustel, Ricky Arnold and Oleg Artemyev behind.

Launched last Dec. 17, Shkaplerov and his crewmates plan to fire their braking rockets for four minutes and 40 seconds starting at 7:47 a.m., slowing the ship by 286 mph and dropping the far side of the orbit deep into the atmosphere

If all goes well, the central crew module will make a parachute-and-rocket-assisted touchdown on the steppe of Kazakhstan near the town of Dzhezkazgan at 8:40 a.m. After initial medical checks, Tingle and Kanai will be flown back to the Johnson Space Center in Houston while Shkaplerov will head to Star City near Moscow for debriefing.

"I can't believe that Expedition 55 is already over," Tingle wrote in a recent blog entry. "Last night we had our last movie night. The entire crew gathered in Node 2 and watched 'Avengers Infinity Wars' (sic) on the big screen. We enjoy each other's company ... and this was a welcome break from the daily grind of trying to complete the required stowage, maintenance and science activities while preparing for departure."

During his last full weekend in space, Tingle said, "I gave myself a haircut. We usually clean our spaces each weekend to make sure we can maintain a decent level of organization, efficiency and morale. This weekend is no different, and it is time for me to vacuum out all of our filters and vents. You'd be amazed at what we find!"

During a brief change-of-command ceremony Friday, Shkaplerov thanked Feustel's crew for its support and turned over a ceremonial key to the outpost.

"It's been three months since we started Expedition 55 (when) I took command of the space station," Shkaplerov said. "We are going to return to the Earth. ... I want to say thank you very much, Drew, Ricky and Oleg, for your friendship, for your help every day. My crewmates, my space brothers, I'm very proud to be part of our Soyuz crew."

Feustel thanked Shkaplerov in return "for welcoming us to the ISS, taking care of us, making sure we were ready to work when we arrived, you made the transition seamless."

"We appreciate your patience and your guidance and your leadership, and we look forward to a safe and soft landing for you," he added.

With touchdown, Tingle and Kanai, both completing their first spaceflight, will have logged 168 days in space during a voyage spanning 2,688 orbits and 71.2 million miles since launch. Shkaplerov, a veteran of two earlier station visits totaling a full year, will have logged 532 days off planet.

All three men carried out a single spacewalk each during their stay, welcomed four visiting vehicles — one Soyuz and three unpiloted cargo ships — and oversaw the departure of a like number, along with carrying out a full slate of scientific research.

With the departure of Shkaplerov and his crewmates, Feustel, Arnold and Artemyev, launched to the station March 21 aboard the Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft, will have the lab to themselves for just five days before a fresh crew arrives.
