A 30-minute launch window, spanning 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the exact moment the station's orbital plane passes over the Complex 41 launch pad, is available for liftoff this morning.

Launch will be possible during any of five specific opportunities -- at every 7-minute 30-second interval -- that simplified the analytical work for mission control. The rocket's in-flight steering capabilities will be employed during ascent to guide Cygnus into the station's orbital plane:

Opportunity 1: 11:11:26 a.m. EDT
Opportunity 2: 11:18:56 a.m. EDT
Opportunity 3: 11:26:26 a.m. EDT
Opportunity 4: 11:33:56 a.m. EDT
Opportunity 5: 11:41:26 a.m. EDT

Engineers are assessing a possible voltage problem with one of the Range safety command-receivers on the rocket.

04/18/2017 17:31  L-minus 40 minutes
Today's launch uses the 401 version of the Atlas 5 rocket, generating the necessary power to lift the eight-ton Cygnus spacecraft into its low-altitude, high-inclination Earth orbit.

It is the workhorse configuration of the Atlas 5, and is distinguished by two stages, a four-meter-wide nose cone, no side-mounted solid boosters and a single-engine Centaur upper stage.

The United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will come off the pad on 860,000 pounds of thrust produced by the RD-180 main engine.
It stands 194 feet tall.

The 401 has flown 35 times before.

T-minus 4 minutes and holding. The countdown has entered the planned 30-minute built-in hold designed to give a bit of margin to deal with any problems. Also during this time, the final readiness polls of the launch team and management members will be performed.
