ABS 2 [SS/Loral]

The ABS-2 is a communication satellite ordered in October 2010 by Asia Broadcast Satellite fr om Space Systems Loral (SSL). SS/L was already selected as the builder in June 2009.

The spacecraft separated mass will be in excess of 6,000 kg at launch and offers a design life exceeding 15 years. The satellite will be built by Space Systems Loral using the LS-1300 platform, fitted with 78 C-, Ku- and Ka-band payloads and will have more than four times the existing capacity of ABS-1.

ABS-2 will be located at the 75 degrees East Longitude, ABS' prime orbital location wh ere ABS-1, ABS-1A, and ABS-1B are currently located ABS-2 will offer a wide range of services for Asia, Russia, Africa, and the Middle East, including DTH, cable TV distribution, multimedia applications, as well as data networks and telecommunications services. The ABS-2 satellite will be a significant addition to the existing 44 transponders on the ABS-1 satellite, which still has more than 14 years of fuel life remaining. ABS-2 will provide expansion capacity to existing ABS-1 customers and will also act as in-orbit spare and provide backup for the ABS-1 transponders.

Singapore Telecommunications has signed a transponder purchase agreement with satellite operator Asia Broadcast Satellite Limited (ABS). With this agreement, SingTel will own multiple C-band transponders on the ABS-2 satellite at a cost of approximately S$80 million over the next two years. SingTel will market these transponders to corporate customers under the brand ST-3/ABS-2. Capacity used by KT Telecom is referred as Koreasat 8.

GSat 7, 7A (Insat 4F)

GSAT-7 / INSAT-4F is a multi-band satellite carrying payloads in UHF, S-band, C-band and Ku-band. It is planned to be launched during 2011 onboard GSLV and positioned at 74º East. The satellite weighs 2330 kg with a payload power of 2000W and mission life of 9 years.
INSAT-4 series is planned to have seven satellites, INSAT-4A through INSAT-4G with INSAT-4D as a spare. The transponder capacity of this series has been worked out after evaluating the requirement projected by different uses/user departments. It is planned that, by 2007, INSAT system will have about 250 transponders in various bands catering to a demand of up to 11 Giga Bits Per Second (GBPS) capacity.

Azerspace/Africasat 1a

Azerspace/Africasat 1a [OSC]

Orbital Sciences Corporation today announced in June 2010 that it has signed a contract with International Relations and Accounting Center of The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (Ministry) of the Republic of Azerbaijan to design, build and deliver the Azerspace/Africasat-1a commercial communications satellite. The satellite will be based on Orbital's flight-proven Star-2 platform and will generate approximately five kilowatts of payload power for 36 active transponders. The Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite carries hybrid Ku and C-band payloads to provide services to Azerbaijan, Central Asia, Europe and Africa. Orbital will be responsible for providing the satellite and ground system.
Following its launch and deployment, the spacecraft will be located in geosynchronous orbit (GEO) at 46 degrees East longitude through an arrangement between the Ministry and Measat of Malaysia, which owns the rights to the orbital slot. Upon completion of in-orbit testing, operational control of the satellite will be handed over to the Ministry, which will continue to operate the spacecraft from its control center in Baku. This latest order for one of Orbital's GEO communications satellites is the 31st STAR-class spacecraft to be ordered by customers throughout the world.

ABS 2 тоже ушёл на середину 2013. Возможно полетит всё-таки парой с GSAT-7.
