What was Tikhomirov's "пироксилин-тротил"?  A mix of nitrocellulose and trinitrotoluene (TNT)?

I have a 2nd question also about Russian.  Rocket sites have code names like "в/ч 13951" (IP-1 at Baikonur).  What does "в/ч" mean?

Many thanks!

"в/ч" means "войсковая часть" (troop unit [BabelFish translation]). - You can find abbreviations here: http://www.sokr.ru/

DonPMitchell, "пироксилин-тротил" mean the nitropowder, made with using TNT as a plastifikator. You may use nitroglicerin, for the same propouse (prefere for the gun`s nintropowder).
