Vostok green-brown and/or whitish-silver

Hallo members

Again, I have to come back to the Vostok colour question.
Can anybody tell me why there are silver-white Vostoks and brown-green Vostoks, both with hexagons. Vostoks in factory seem to have either a whitish-silver surface or a green-brown, always with hexagons. Was there, I only suppose, a translucent protective layer over the heat shield like over the Apollos (blue protective cover)?

You can see a chrome-silver Vostok without any hexagons!! Have the hexagons anything to do with a possible protective layer:
