Hatch Closed! [url=https://twitter.com/SergeyISS]@SergeyISS[/url] closed and locked the hatch of #Soyuz MS-05, marking the start of three hours of undocking prep. Misurkin now in the process of closing the Rassvet hatch to clear the way for interface leak checks.

For the leak check, the large and small vestibule areas between #Soyuz and Rassvet will be depressurized and pressures monitored over the course of an hour to verify both hatches are not allowing air into the interface.

While leak checks are underway, the crew will don their Kentavr anti-G garments and Sokol Launch and Entry Suits before vacating the Orbital Module and taking their seats in the Entry Module. #Soyuz also transitions to autonomous power and radio comm.

Crew Says Goodbye and Closes the Hatch to Ride Home


Cosmonauts (from left) Sergey Ryazanskiy and Alexander Misurkin trade hugs and farewells. Ryazanskiy is departing the station with astronauts Randy Bresnik of NASA and Paolo Nespoli of ESA in the Soyuz MS-05 spacecraft.

At 9:02 p.m. EST, the hatch closed between the Soyuz spacecraft and the International Space Station in preparation for undocking. Expedition 53 Commander Randy Bresnik and Flight Engineers Paolo Nespoli of ESA (European Space Agency) and Sergey Ryazanskiy of Roscosmos are scheduled to undock their Soyuz at 12:14 a.m. NASA Television will air live coverage of the undocking beginning at 11:45 p.m.

Their landing in Kazakhstan is targeted for approximately 3:37 a.m. (2:37 p.m. Kazakhstan time) and will conclude a 139-day mission aboard the space station, in which they logged 2,224 orbits of the Earth.

Sokol pressure decay checks are complete for all three crew members, moving on to internal #Soyuz leak checks. The Entry Module leak check is completed by venting the Orbital Module to reduced pressure & monitoring any changes for half an hour.
