Mission Control Moscow gave the crew a go to translate onto the large diameter of Zvezda after stopping array rotation & disabling thrusters

Chris B - NSF‏ @NASASpaceflight 3 ч. назад

Rare view of the Zvezda thrusters. They've gone through some serious usage.

The 1st order of business at the aft end of Zvezda will be collecting photos of the SKK No.9 exposure experiment. (Pic shows SKK 2, similar)

Photos of SKK have been collected, Mission Control instructing the crew to take a short break before translating around to hand rail 2614.

Good view of Zvezda's thruster pods, the Station's primary source of propulsion and focus of the Impakt experiment. http://spaceflight101.com/iss/live-spacewalk-coverage/ ...

3 ч. назад

Impakt holds material samples to be installed on a thruster deflector on Zvezda aft to study contamination & corrosion by thruster residue.

3 ч. назад

The hypergolic thrusters can and do make quite a mess, spewing unburnt propellants when firing which creates a corrosion/contamination issue

3 ч. назад

Impakt installed right on the rim of the thruster pod. Spacewalkers now cleaning up & taking photos before moving back to Pirs.
