In this morning's forecast, the weather team at Cape Canaveral continues to predict a 70% chance of good weather for launch of SpaceX's Crew-1 mission at 7:49pm EST Saturday (0049 GMT Sunday).

But officials continue assessing weather and sea conditions to ensure they meet criteria for a safe abort of the Crew Dragon capsule in the event of a failure during launch. Teams also want to ensure SpaceX's drone ship "Just Read The Instructions" can reach the downrange recovery zone in the Atlantic Ocean for landing of the Falcon 9 rocket's first stage.

Kevin Vega, a deputy chief engineer for NASA working on the SpaceX crew program, said this morning that officials are also evaluating ground winds at the launch site to make sure they are safe in the event of an on-pad abort, in which the Dragon's escape thrusters would fire to push the capsule away from the rocket to parachute to a splashdown just off the Space Coast.

Strong winds from the east could push the capsule back toward land as it descends under parachutes after an on-pad abort.

The official weather outlook this morning predicts easterly winds of 12 to 17 mph at launch time Saturday night. There will also be a chance of isolated rain showers in the area. Otherwise, forecasters expect partly cloudy skies.

Tune in to NASA Television or the agency's website today for live broadcasts of NASA's SpaceX Crew-1 mission prelaunch events at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker of NASA, and astronaut Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7:49 p.m. EST, from Kennedy's Launch Complex 39A.

The U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron predicts a 70% chance of favorable weather conditions at the launch pad for liftoff of Crew-1 based on Falcon 9 Crew Dragon launch weather criteria. The primary weather concerns for the launch area are cumulus clouds and flight through precipitation.

Teams also will monitor weather conditions both for the launch area and downrange.

Вашингтон. 14 ноября. ИНТЕРФАКС - Новейший пилотируемый космический корабль Crew Dragon американской компании SpaceX в субботу, когда в Москве уже наступит воскресенье, стартует к Международной космической станции (МКС), сообщает NASA.

Запуск первого регулярного корабля Crew Dragon к МКС планируется осуществить с помощью ракеты-носителя Falcon 9 компании SpaceX 14 ноября в 19:49 по времени Восточного побережья США (15 ноября в 03:49 мск) со стартового комплекса 39А на космодроме на мысе Канаверал во Флориде.

Через примерно девять минут после старта первая многоразовая ступень ракеты-носителя должна будет совершить вертикальную посадку на автоматическую плавучую платформу, которая будет находиться в Атлантике в 536 км от космодрома.

Запуск проводится в рамках коммерческой программы пилотируемых полетов NASA.

В состав экипажа корабля Crew Dragon-1 входят астронавты NASA Майкл Хопкинс, Виктор Гловер, Шеннон Уокер и астронавт Японского агентства аэрокосмических исследований JAXA Соичи Ногучи. Их миссия на МКС продлится шесть месяцев.

Корабль должен будет состыковаться со станцией 15 ноября в 04:20 по времени Восточного побережья США (12:20 мск).

Астронавты присоединятся к членам 64-й длительной экспедиции на МКС в составе командира станции космонавта Роскосмоса Сергея Рыжикова, космонавта Сергея Кудь-Сверчкова и астронавта NASA Кэтлин Рубинс.

НЬЮ-ЙОРК, 14 ноября. /ТАСС/. Запуск американского пилотируемого космического корабля Crew Dragon компании SpaceX к Международной космической станции (МКС) перенесен с 14 ноября на 15 ноября. Об этом глава NASA Джеймс Брайденстайн сообщил в пятницу в своем Twitter.
"NASA и SpaceX из-за сильного ветра и спасательных операций намечают запуск миссии Crew-1 с астронавтами к Международной космической станции на воскресенье, 15 ноября, в 19:27 по времени восточного побережья [03:27 мск 16 ноября]", - написал Брайденстайн.
Прежде пуск планировался на 14 ноября в 19:49 по времени восточного побережья США (03:49 мск 15 ноября). Новые сроки стыковки корабля с орбитальным комплексом пока не уточняются.

В состав экипажа Crew Dragon включены американцы Майкл Хопкинс, Виктор Гловер и Шэннон Уокер, а также астронавт Японского агентства аэрокосмических исследований Соити Ногути. Сейчас на борту МКС находятся космонавты Роскосмоса Сергей Рыжиков и Сергей Кудь-Сверчков, а также астронавт NASA Кэтлин Рубинс.
Первый пилотируемый полет на Crew Dragon на орбиту совершили в этом году астронавты Даглас Хёрли и Роберт Бенкен. Корабль, выведенный на орбиту 30 мая, пристыковался в автоматическом режиме к МКС 31 мая. Хёрли и Бенкен присвоили ему название Endeavour по аналогии с кораблем программы Space Shuttle, на котором оба астронавта выполняли свои первые космические полеты. Запуск Crew Dragon стал первым за девять лет пилотируемым полетом, осуществляемым с территории США на американском космическом корабле. NASA прекратило их в 2011 году. С тех пор астронавты доставлялись на МКС российскими "Союзами".
