The last step of fueling has started. This will place about 12,300 gallons of liquid hydrogen fuel into the energetic Centaur upper stage to deliver the @NOAASatellites #GOEST into geosynchronous transfer orbit. Still targeting 4:38pmEST (2138 UTC) for liftoff.

A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 541 launch vehicle launched the GOES-T satellite to an optimized geosynchronous transfer orbit from Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, on 1 March 2022, at 21:38 UTC (16:38 EST). The Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite - T (GOES-T) will provide NASA and NOAA with continuous imagery and atmospheric measurements of Earth's Western Hemisphere, lightning detection and mapping, solar imaging and space weather monitoring. Upon reaching geostationary orbit, the satellite will be renamed GOES-18.

This five-and-a-half-minute firing by Centaur, the second of three burns during the launch, is progressing well, according to nominal system parameters streaming back from the #AtlasV rocket.

Centaur's RL10 engine continues to raise the high point, or apogee, of the rocket's orbit to the geosynchronous belt. The engine firing is occurring over the equator near Africa.

Main Engine Cutoff #2 is confirmed for Centaur. The #AtlasV mission now begins a three-hour coast away from Earth before the third burn occurs to customize the orbit for payload release. http://bit.ly/av_goest
