And we have confirmation that #AMOS17 is Range approved AND that #SpaceX is driving toward the launch tomorrow.  So confirmed all around that we are ON for the AMOS-17 launch attempt. This is going to be an epic debut of Range rapid launch support. #Falcon9

US Air Force officials signed off Monday on a plan for SpaceX and United Launch Alliance, rivals in the launch services market, to fire off Falcon 9 and Atlas 5 rockets from neighboring launch pads at Cape Canaveral on Tuesday evening and Thursday morning. https://spaceflightnow.com/2019/08/05/cape-canaveral-to-host-two-launches-in-36-hours-this-week/ ...

According to my survey of the wonderful global launch log maintained by @planet4589, this would be the shortest span between orbital launches at Cape Canaveral since May 1981. Weather permitting, of course.

Weather forecasters expect iffy conditions on Florida's Space Coast for the planned launch of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket Tuesday.

There is a 60 percent chance weather could violate one of the Falcon 9's launch weather rules, according to the U.S. Air Force's 45th Weather Squadron.

The primary weather concerns during Tuesday's launch window are expected to be lightning and thick clouds.

The launch window opens at 6:53 p.m. EDT (2253 GMT) Tuesday and extends until 8:20 p.m. EDT (0020 GMT).

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms triggered by sea breezes moving across the Florida peninsula will likely bring bad weather to the Space Coast during the countdown.

"The western sea breeze should move across the peninsula during the afternoon and the associated showers and thunderstorms will approach the Space Coast by late afternoon," the Air Force weather team wrote Monday. "As has been the case the past couple of days, the storms are expected to diminish just before sunset. This indicates there is a higher chance for weather violation at the beginning of the launch wind with improving conditions during the latter half of the window."

During the launch window, forecasters predict scattered showers and thunderstorms, overcast skies, south winds at 15 to 20 mph, and a temperature of around 81 degrees Fahrenheit.
