"26 minutes après le décollage vertical, selon les données du centre de poursuite et de contrôle des satellites de Xi'an, les opérations de séparation du satellite Alcomsat-1 du véhicule de lancement et son entrée en Orbite de Transfert Géostationnaire (GTO) se sont déroulées avec succès". L'apogée de cette Orbite de Transfert est de 4.1991km, son périgée est de 200km et son inclinaison est de 26.4º. Агентство Синьхуа, Xichang, 11 декабря - (Li Guoli, Чжао Jinlong) в 0:40 11-го декабря, с космодрома Сичан китайская РН Long March 3B успешно запустила на орбиту алжирский спутник связи Alcomsat-1. Запуск миссии завершился полным успехом.

China successfully launched the Alcomsat-1 telecommunications satellite towards geostationary orbit on Sunday, as part of a contract for design, construction and launch of the satellite for Algeria.

A Long March 3B/G2 carrier rocket lifted off at 16:41 UTC on Sunday (02:41 local time Monday) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan Province, southwest China.

The first indication of launch taking place came from startled locals posting on social media, with Algerian media confirming successful injection into geostationary transfer orbit within the hour.

Upon reaching its intended position of 24.8 degrees West at around 35,786 km (22,236 miles) above the surface of the Earth, Alcomsat-1 will undergo a period of on-orbit testing before being handed over to Algeria, which has two ready ground stations and whose staff have been trained in China.

The satellite carries Ku- and Ka-band transponders for civil applications such as internet and broadcasting services, and X-band, UHF and EHF to meet the needs of military and strategic state sectors.

Alcomsat-1 is based on a DFH-4 satellite bus developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and is expected to operate for at least 15 years.

CAST researches, development, and manufactures satellites and spacecraft and is a subsidiary of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the main contractor for the Chinese space programme.

The deal for design, manufacture and launch of Alcomsat-1 was made between the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), which negotiates commercial launch services and satellite systems with international and domestic customers, and the Algeria Space Agency (ASAL) in December 2013.

The orbital launch was the 16th for China in 2017, coming a week after a classified 'land survey satellite' launch from Jiuquan, and the eighth since late September.

XICHANG, Sichuan, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- China launched Algeria's first communication satellite, Alcomsat-1, into a preset orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan early Monday.

The satellite was the first cooperative project in aerospace industry between the two countries. It will be used by Algeria for broadcast and television, emergency communication, distance education, e-governance, enterprise communication, broadband access and satellite-based navigation.

The satellite was launched 40 minutes after midnight by a Chinese Long March-3B carrier rocket, making it the 258th flight mission for the Long March rocket family.

A Chinese-built telecom satellite for Algeria successfully launched Sunday aboard a Long March 3B rocket, heading toward a perch more than 22,000 miles over the equator to provide television broadcasts, broadband Internet, remote education and emergency communications services.

The Alcomsat 1 spacecraft rode a Chinese Long March 3B rocket into orbit from the Xichang space center in Sichuan province, a mountainous launch base in the southwestern part of the country.

The 184-foot-tall (56-meter) Long March 3B launcher lifted off at 1640 GMT (11:40 a.m. EST) Sunday from Xichang and headed southeast, dropping its four liquid-fueled strap-on boosters around 2 minutes, 20 seconds, into the mission.

The rocket took off at 12:40 a.m. Monday Beijing time.

The Long March 3B's first stage shut down and separated moments later, and liquid-fueled second and third stage engines continued pushing the rocket toward orbit.

Separation of the 11,519-pound (5,225-kilogram) Alcomsat 1 spacecraft occurred approximately 26 minutes after liftoff.

The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology and China Great Wall Industry Corp., the state-owned firm which markets Chinese rockets and satellites to international customers, announced the mission was a success.

The Algeria Press Service, owned by the Algerian government, also reported the launch was successful, claiming the Alcomsat 1 spacecraft was injected into an elliptical "supersynchronous" transfer orbit arcing as high as 26,100 miles (42,000 kilometers) above Earth, circling the planet on a track tilted 26.4 degrees.

China Great Wall Industry Corp. confirmed the same orbital parameters in a statement.

Alcomsat 1's on-board engine will circularize its orbit over the equator in the next two weeks, settling the satellite in geostationary orbit over the equator at 24.8 degrees west longitude. In that orbit, the spacecraft's velocity will match the rate of Earth's rotation, allowing Alcomsat 1 to hover in the same position in the sky for fixed ground-based antennas.

China Great Wall Industry Corp. said the Alcomsat 1 spacecraft is based on the DFH-4 satellite design manufactured by the China Academy of Space Technology. Built for a 15-year service life, Alcomsat 1 carries 33 operational transponders — 19 in Ku-band, 12 in Ka-band and two in L-band, CGWIC said in a statement.

"The Alcomsat 1 satellite program is the first communications satellite program of Algeria, and also (marks) the bilateral cooperation between Algeria and China in space technology for the first time," CGWIC said.

"Algeria and China are strategic partners with comprehensive cooperation," the statement said. "The successful launch of Alcomsat 1 is the good beginning of space cooperation between (the) two countries. More cooperation (and) more space programs are expected to be initiated soon."

China Great Wall Industry Corp. and the Algeria Space Agency signed the Alcomsat 1 contract in December 2013. Chinese engineers were responsible for building, launching and testing Alcomsat 1 once in orbit, and Algerian authorities will take command of the satellite when it is ready to begin communications services.

Alcomsat 1 is designed for television broadcast, broadband Internet, remote education, emergency communication, e-government and enterprise communication services, officials said.

China has launched similar communications satellites under contracts with the governments of Nigeria, Venezuela, Pakistan, Bolivia, Belarus and Laos. Future Chinese-built geostationary telecom craft are under construction for Nicaragua and the Democratic Republic of the Congo for launches as soon as next year.

Китай осуществил запуск первого алжирского спутника связи

ПЕКИН, 11 дек – РИА Новости. Китай осуществил запуск первого алжирского спутника для связи "Alcomsat-1", сообщает агентство Синьхуа.

Запуск был осуществлен с помощью ракеты-носителя "Великий поход-3В" в понедельник в 00.40 по местному времени с космодрома "Сичэн" в провинции Сычуань на юго-западе Китая.

Запуск спутника стал первым проектом сотрудничества в космической сфере для Китая и Алжира. Спутник будет использоваться Алжиром для телевизионного вещания, экстренной связи, дистанционного образования, широкополосного интернета и в других сферах.

Председатель КНР Си Цзиньпин и президент Алжира Абдельазиз Бутефлика обменялись поздравительными телеграммами в связи с успешным запуском.

В поздравительной телеграмме Си Цзиньпин назвал запуск "Alcomsat-1" важным свидетельством всестороннего стратегического партнерства между двумя странами, которое создало прецедент сотрудничества Китая и арабской страны в сфере космоса.

Бутефлика в свою очередь отметил, что запуск стал значимым достижением для сотрудничества Китая и Алжира в космической сфере, отражая традиционную дружбу между двумя странами. Он выразил готовность Алжира развивать сотрудничество с Китаем и в других сферах.
