The SpaceX launch conductor should have polled the Falcon 9 launch team a few minutes ago for approval to begin fueling the launcher at Vandenberg. We're standing by for an update on the countdown.

Today's launch will target Plane 4 of the Iridium constellation, which is designed to have 66 satellites spread out evenly in six orbital planes around Earth.

The launch is timed to the second -- 5:37:24 a.m. PDT -- to target a hole in Plane 4.

Today's mission is the third of eight Falcon 9 flights to deliver 75 next-generation satellites to replace Iridium's network with upgraded services and new spacecraft designed to operate for the next 15 years.
