SpaceX's next Falcon 9 rocket is standing at launch pad 39A in Florida for a hold-down engine firing Thursday. https://spaceflightnow.com/2017/08/09/falcon-9-crs-12-flight-preps/ ...

The Falcon 9 rocket is now standing vertical at pad 39A for a static fire test Thursday ahead of next week's liftoff of a space station resupply mission.
Спойлер
Standing without its Dragon cargo capsule payload, the two-stage rocket will be fueled with kerosene and liquid oxygen propellants to mimic countdown procedures on launch day. The first stage's nine Merlin 1D engines will ignite for several seconds while restraints keep the booster firmly on the ground.

The static fire test window opens Thursday morning and extends several hours. SpaceX does not publicize ground tests ahead of its launches, so the first indication that the hold-down firing is imminent will be the start of fueling, when vapors begin streaming away from the rocket.

Once the static fire is complete, the rocket will be returned to SpaceX's hangar at the southern perimeter of pad 39A for attachment of the Dragon cargo craft.

Liftoff is set for 12:31 p.m. EDT (1631 GMT) Monday.

The first propellant vapors are visible near the Falcon 9 rocket at pad 39A, an indication that preparations have begun to fill the launcher with kerosene and liquid oxygen ahead of today's static fire test. The first step in the fueling process is to chill down propellant lines and other equipment to handle the super-cold cryogenic liquid oxygen.

Fueling of the Falcon 9 rocket is apparently underway at pad 39A, with vapors from the launcher's cryogenic propellant now streaming away from the vehicle.

The Falcon 9's engines have ignited at pad 39A, and we'll await confirmation from SpaceX that the hold-down firing went according to plan.

We apologize for the interruption in video due to technical difficulties, but look for a replay of the static fire on our website shortly.

All right all, time for the positive thoughts to keep this developing system far enough away from Florida on Monday.
