Weather conditions are currently looking favorable at the Kennedy Space Center, with scattered low-level cumulus clouds hanging over the spaceport. Storms are forecast to develop this afternoon over the Space Coast, but officials are hopeful the bad weather stays away at launch time.

A poll of the SpaceX launch team at 11:28 a.m. EDT (1528 GMT) will give the "go" to begin loading super-chilled RP-1 kerosene and liquid oxygen into the two-stage rocket. Both stages of the rocket use Merlin engines, powered by the hydrocarbon propellant mix.

RP-1 kerosene should begin flowing into the rocket at 11:31 a.m. EDT (1531 GMT), followed by liquid oxygen at 11:56 a.m. EDT (1556 GMT).

SpaceX plans to recover the Falcon 9's first stage booster a few minutes after the launch. After detaching from the Falcon 9 second stage around two-and-a-half minutes into the mission, the 14-story booster stage will flip around and reignite a subset of its nine Merlin engines twice to return to Landing Zone 1 at at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
Спойлер
A final braking burn by the first stage's center engine will slow the rocket just before touchdown. A four-legged landing gear will unfurl at the base of the booster as it settles on the concrete landing zone, located approximately 9 miles (15 kilometers) south of the rocket's departure point at pad 39A.

If successful, Monday's landing will mark the 14th time SpaceX has recovered one of its Falcon 9 boosters intact, either at sea or on land. SpaceX aims to refit and reuse the rockets in a bid to make spaceflight less expensive, and two of the company's flown rockets have made second flights to date.

The rocket flying Monday is a new vehicle, but the first stage's landing legs were previously-flown, according to Hans Koenigsmann, vice president of flight reliability at SpaceX.

The latest launch weather forecast from the U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron upgrades the chance of favorable conditions to 80 percent. That's good news for launch managers and controllers as they continue with preparations for liftoff of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft on SpaceX CRS-12, the company's 12th commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station. Launch remains on schedule for 12:31 p.m. EDT from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Join us at noon for updates from the countdown.
