Hatch Closed! [url=https://twitter.com/SergeyISS]@SergeyISS[/url] closed and locked the hatch of #Soyuz MS-05, marking the start of three hours of undocking prep. Misurkin now in the process of closing the Rassvet hatch to clear the way for interface leak checks.

For the leak check, the large and small vestibule areas between #Soyuz and Rassvet will be depressurized and pressures monitored over the course of an hour to verify both hatches are not allowing air into the interface.

While leak checks are underway, the crew will don their Kentavr anti-G garments and Sokol Launch and Entry Suits before vacating the Orbital Module and taking their seats in the Entry Module. #Soyuz also transitions to autonomous power and radio comm.

Crew Says Goodbye and Closes the Hatch to Ride Home

At 9:02 p.m. EST, the hatch closed between the Soyuz spacecraft and the International Space Station in preparation for undocking. Expedition 53 Commander Randy Bresnik and Flight Engineers Paolo Nespoli of ESA (European Space Agency) and Sergey Ryazanskiy of Roscosmos are scheduled to undock their Soyuz at 12:14 a.m. NASA Television will air live coverage of the undocking beginning at 11:45 p.m.

Their landing in Kazakhstan is targeted for approximately 3:37 a.m. (2:37 p.m. Kazakhstan time) and will conclude a 139-day mission aboard the space station, in which they logged 2,224 orbits of the Earth.

Before leaving the International Space Station for the return trip to Earth, Expedition 53 Commander Randy Bresnik of NASA, Soyuz Commander Sergey Ryazanskky of Roscosmos and Flight Engineer Paolo Nespoli of ESA (the European Space Agency) bid farewell to their colleagues staying onboard the complex.

Sokol pressure decay checks are complete for all three crew members, moving on to internal #Soyuz leak checks. The Entry Module leak check is completed by venting the Orbital Module to reduced pressure & monitoring any changes for half an hour.

МОСКВА, 14 декабря. /ТАСС/. Три члена экипажа Международной космической станции (МКС) - космонавт Роскосмоса Сергей Рязанский, астронавты NASA и ЕКА Рэндолф Брезник и Паоло Несполи - перешли на борт корабля "Союз МС-05" и закрыли люки. Об этом сообщили в подмосковном Центре управления полетами (ЦУП).
"Переходные люки закрыты в 05:01 мск", - сказали в ЦУП.
В ближайшее время будет проведена проверка герметичности люков. Затем космонавты оденут скафандры и переместятся в спускаемый аппарат.
На борту МКС до прибытия следующего пилотируемого корабля (17 декабря на МКС отправится "Союз МС-07" )  продолжат работу российский космонавт Александр Мисуркин и астронавты NASA Марк Ванде Хай и Джозеф Акаба.
Команда на отстыковку корабля от станции будет выдана в 08:15 мск. Спустя полторы минуты произойдет разделение корабля и станции, а еще через несколько минут "Союз" совершит маневр увода от МКС и отправится в полет к Земле. В 10:45 мск "Союз МС-05" включит двигатели на торможение и начнет сход с орбиты. Спускаемая капсула "Союза" с экипажем войдет в атмосферу в 11:16 мск, посадка аппарата ожидается в 11:38 мск в казахстанской степи юго-восточнее города Жезказган.

ISS has completed its re-orientation - pitching up to position #Soyuz MS-05 for a departure along the velocity vector. Tonight's undocking utilizes a one-burn departure, unlike recent missions that skipped the re-orientation and had Soyuz make two departure maneuvers.
