During the coast phase, AVUM uses its attitude control system for re-orientation maneuvers and thermal conditioning. http://www.arianespace.tv
SHUTDOWN of the AVUM upper stage. The #VV03 mission is now entering a 40-minute coast phase to reach apogee for the circularization maneuver
AVUM is using data provided by its navigation system to adjust its flight profile to correct Vega insertion errors and reach a precise orbit
AVUM uses several Nitrogen Thrusters for attitude control in combination with gimbaling of the main engine. http://www.arianespace.tv/
AVUM's engine consumes Unsymmetrical Dimethylhydrazine and Nitrogen Tetroxide providing 250 Kilograms of thrust.
AVUM's first burn is 5-min 26-sec long and delivers the stack to an elliptical parking orbit.
AVUM SEPARATION – The third stage has been pushed away by loaded springs, standing by for AVUM ignition.
BURNOUT of the third stage. To allow residual thrust to tail-off, #Vega will coast uphill for staging at T+6:14
Zefiro 9 is the smallest of the three solid-fueled stages of #Vega, but has the longest burn time.
FAIRING JETTISON – Now out of the atmosphere, #Vega has separated its fairing, exposing KazEOSat-1 for the rest of the ride to orbit.
IGNITION of the Zefiro 9 third stage burning for 110 seconds with an average thrust of 22,940 Kilograms. Good performance.
STAGE SEPARATION – Cutting charges have been fired and small retrorockets are firing to move the second stage away from the 3rd.
BURNOUT of the Zefiro 23 second stage. Staging in ~20 seconds.
Good burn of the second stage, control is nominal, trajectory is spot on and all systems are in good shape as #Vega continues powered ascent
IGNITION of the Zefiro 23 second stage on a burn of 72 seconds delivering 121,960 Kilograms of thrust.
STAGE SEPARATION – Using cutting charges and retrorockets, the first stage has separated from Zefiro 23.
BURNOUT of the first stage.
The P80 first stage burns for 107 seconds until thrust tails off. Currently firing at 230,600kg of thrust, burning 820kg of prop per second.
One Minute into the Flight. Vega is performing as planned – good trajectory, good control on the first stage and stable communications
#Vega is now encountering Maximum Dynamic Pressure on its way through the atmosphere. 13 Kilometers in altitude,
T+0:33: The vehicle has already passed Mach 1. Altitude 4.7km
