Разработчики спутниковой интернет-сети Eutelsat OneWeb забыли учесть в навигационных программах.... При переходе на новый год навигация перестала функционировать....
и сбой в определении времени мог бы заставить спутники маневрировать с непредсказуемыми результатами.

вот интересно откуда они это тащат в русскоязычный сегмент, т.к. это не только в 3dnews

Paris, France, 12 January 2026 – Airbus Defence and Space has been awarded a contract by Eutelsat to build a further 340 OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Together with the previous batch of 100 satellites procured in December 2024, the total number of satellites ordered by Eutelsat amounts to 440. These new satellites will ensure operational continuity of the OneWeb constellation. 
The satellites will be manufactured at Airbus Defence and Space's Toulouse facility on a newly installed production line, with delivery from the end of 2026. This is a further step for European sovereignty.

Eutelsat's OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network delivers high-speed, low-latency connectivity on a global basis. With over 600 satellites flying in 12 synchronised orbital planes 1,200km above the Earth, the constellation brings high-speed internet to every corner of the planet. The availability of these latest satellites will assure full operational continuity for customers of the constellation, progressively replacing early batches coming to end of operational life.  
Furthermore, they will integrate technology upgrades including advanced digital channelisers, enabling enhanced onboard processing capabilities as well as greater efficiency and flexibility. They incorporate optimised architecture designed to maximise long-term operational performance. With these latest satellites, Eutelsat will also be evaluating opportunities for new business cases, notably through embarkation capabilities for hosted payloads.

Вы же правильно перевели. "Непрерывность функционирования" тоже можно. Покрытие тут не при чём. Если дочитать текст до конца, то там пишут что работает везде. Но первые спутники запущены в 2019 году. Постепенно надо будет заменять новыми.

Eutelsat Awards MaiaSpace Multi-Launch Contract for OneWeb Satellites

On 15 January, MaiaSpace announced that it had secured a multi-launch agreement with Eutelsat to deliver satellites for its OneWeb constellation to low Earth orbit. According to the release, the agreement has the potential to account for "the majority of [the] Maia launch manifest during the first three years of operation."

И как я писал в одном из прошлых постов, например в Великобритании вовсе нет частных абонентов OneWeb по данным Ofcom. Лицензию Ofcom выдали и на Starlink и на OneWeb. Граждане голосуют рублём фунтом стерлингов.

Вопрос: а есть ли сервис OneWeb для частных абонентов хоть где-то? Спросил Google AI.

Вопрос, почему в Великобритании нет частных абонентов OneWeb, получил простой ответ - в Великобритании частный абонент может свободно подключиться к Starlink.

Самое-то интересное, что эти новые предполагается делать совместимыми с архитектурой IRIS² "и наземными сетями 5G"

Про IRIS² тема была нет, не заметил, но проект странноватый.  Заявлено, что для обеспечения Евросоюза суверенной спутниковой связью  для государственных, военных и коммерческих нужд. Причём OneWeb в таком качестве не устраивает, потому что существенная часть его инфраструктуры находится за пределами ЕС. Поэтому будут делать новую систему. 290 аппаратов к концу 2030 года и центр управления системой в Италии.

А делать это будет консорциум из  Eutelsat,  SES и Hispasat и стоить это ддолжно округленно 10 млрд. евро (малость больше),  на который гос-ва Евросоюза дают 60%, и  40% - этот самый консорциум, причём из них Eutelsat - 2 млрд.

А одним из позвывов к этому самому Ирису, кроме государственной суверенности, называется - та-дам! - уменьшение зависимости евросоюза от Старлинка, который у европейских операторов хлеб отбирает. Правда непоянтно с чего бы европейские пользователи понесли вдруг деньги в этот Ирис, а не Маску :-). И вообще как-то это всё стремно выглядит. Коммерческой составляющей там скорее всего не выйдет от слова совсем. Но операторов, объединившихся в консорциум,  на 4 млрд. подписали, и им теперь и своими группировками заниматься  (Eutelsat'у - OneWeb'ом, SES'у - O3B), и этим Ирисом.

Это всё не вполне в тему, но вот этих новых спутников OneWeb - как-то касается.
