Вообще, исследовать солнечную систему автоматами - это примерно то же самое, что посылать робота вместо себя в фитнес, качаться.Зомби. Просто Зомби (с)

Видать рисовать свой им было в лом.
 А что, Бенсон уже покойный? :roll:

А вот это "заслуга" проектировщиков из NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.,
которые проводили  в период 1985-1992 исследования по тематике Пилотируемая Пусковая Система

Бенсон взял в 2005 году за основу космоплан с несущим корпусом HL-20 и вот что SpaceDev Advanced Systems собирается с ним сделать:

SpaceDev's Dream ChaserTM Piloted Lifting Body Spaceplane Characteristics

    * Derived from NASA HL-20
    * Over 1200 hours of NASA wind tunnel testing
    * Builds upon seven years of NASA development
    * Low re-entry deceleration Loads (< 1.5 g)
    * Large cross range (1600km)

Информация к размышлению:
ЦитироватьDream Chaser is an RLV under development by SpaceDev to serve suborbital and orbital applications.
The design of this vehicle is based on the NASA HL-20 spaceplane concept from the early 1990s,
which was itself inspired by the successfully launched Soviet BOR-4 spaceplane from the early 1980s.
Dream Chaser has been expanded from the original HL-20 by 10 percent to an overall length of 9.6
meters (31.5 feet) and wingspan of 8 meters (26.2 feet). The Dream Chaser is designed to
transport 6-9 passengers, compared to the original HL-20's capacity of 6-10. On orbital flights, the
vehicle will launch on top of existing launch vehicles. The vehicle will glide back to a runway landing.

With NASA's October 2008 certification that SpaceDev had successfully performed its Internal Space Vehicle
Propulsion Module Preliminary Design Review (PDR), SpaceDev has completed three technical milestones
to date under the unfunded SAA. SpaceDev has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU)
with United Launch Alliance (ULA) in April 2007 to study the use of the Atlas V to launch the Dream Chaser
on orbital missions, and is collaborating with ATK to study the integration of the Dream Chaser on an
Ares I-derived launch vehicle.

HL-20 was next step for HL-10, developped in 1960s....
"...The HL-20 was built at Langley in October 1990 and is a full-scale non-flying mockup. This mockup was used for engineering studies of maintainability of the vehicle, as testing crew positions, pilot visibility and other human factors considerations. The HL-20 was a direct derivative of the HL-10 vehicle tested in the 1960s and bears a very close resemblance to engineering drawings produced at that time. Although evaluated as a possible "space taxi," the HL-20, sometimes called the "Personnel Launch System..."

NASA HL-20 Spacecraft Automatic Landing Demo
ЦитироватьThis demonstration shows NASA's HL-20 lifting body modeled with Simulink®, Aerospace Blockset™, and Stateflow®. The vehicle model includes the aerodynamics, control logic, fault management systems (FDIR), and engine controls (FADEC). It also includes environmental effects such as wind profiles for the landing phase. The entire model simulates approach and landing flight phases using an auto-landing controller. We use an interface to FlightGear, a open-source flight simulator package, to visualize this model.
Watch the video showing the use of Aerospace Blockset™ in the HL-20 model.

For additional information on the NASA HL-20, see the following article from the July 2002 issue of MATLAB® Digest :

This Nov. 19, 2010 photo provided by Sierra Nevada Space Systems shows the company's first test vehicle, for the Dream Chaser spacecraft, DC1, which shows the Dream Chaser on its way to start structural testing. The company hopes that by 2014 the Dream Chaser will makes its first orbital flight and then eventually take space travelers to the International Space Station. NASA's effort to farm out astronaut trips to the International Space Station to private companies over the next decade is under fire again, this time by federal deficit hit men.
