F9/Starlink 13v1: Falcon 9 hot fire test executed at 6am EDT at KSC-39A; appeared normal; we'll now await an update from SpaceX on plans for a Sunday launch

 Spaceflight Now @SpaceflightNow 1 ч. назад

A plume has erupted from the flame trench at pad 39A, suggesting SpaceX performed a test-firing of the Falcon 9 rocket set to launch more Starlink satellites as soon as Sunday from the Kennedy Space Center.

We'll stand by on confirmation from SpaceX.

STARLINK MISSION

SpaceX is targeting Sunday, October 18 at 8:25 a.m. EDT, 12:25 UTC, for its fourteenth Starlink mission, which will launch 60 Starlink satellites to orbit. Falcon 9 will lift off from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and a backup opportunity is available on Monday, October 19 at 8:06 a.m. EDT, 12:06 UTC.

Falcon 9's first stage previously supported Crew Dragon's first demonstration mission to the International Space Station, launch of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission, and three Starlink missions this year. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9's first stage on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Falcon 9's fairing halves each previously supported two missions. The Starlink satellites will deploy approximately 1 hour and 3 minutes after liftoff.

You can watch the live launch webcast here, starting about 10 minutes before liftoff.

Starlink
18.10.2020 00:00:00

Of Course I Still Love You,

10/18/2020 03:39 Stephen Clark

There's a 70 percent chance of good weather at the Kennedy Space Center for launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 8:25 a.m. EDT (1225 GMT) Sunday.

The official weather forecast issued by the U.S. Space Force's 45th Weather Squadron predicts isolated rain showers and otherwise partly cloudy skies.

"Tomorrow morning, some low level moisture will begin to move back north into the area, but mid and upper levels are expected to remain dry. This, combined with the brisk east/northeast flow, will bring some quick onshore-moving showers from the Atlantic tomorrow morning," the forecast team wrote earlier today.

"While sustained wind speeds are expected to remain under the threshold, they could become briefly elevated in showers or gusts. Therefore, the primary concerns for launch day are the cumulus cloud rule and liftoff winds."
