Коррекция орбиты МКС запланирована на 7 октября

С целью формирования баллистических условий перед запуском и стыковкой транспортного пилотируемого корабля «Союз МС-17» на 7 октября 2020 года запланирована очередная коррекция орбиты Международной космической станции.

По предварительным данным службы баллистико-навигационного обеспечения Центра управления полётами ЦНИИ машиностроения (входит в состав Госкорпорации «Роскосмос»), двигатели грузового корабля «Прогресс МС-14», пристыкованного к агрегатному отсеку модуля «Звезда», будут включены в 13:29 по московскому времени и проработают 103,5 с. После проведения корректирующего манёвра средняя высота орбиты станции увеличится на 400 метров и составит около 419,8 км над поверхностью Земли.

Пуск ракеты-носителя «Союз-2.1а» с пилотируемым кораблем «Союз МС-17» запланирован на 14 октября 2020 года с площадки № 31 космодрома Байконур. В состав осинового экипажа корабля входят космонавты Роскосмоса Сергей Рыжиков и Сергей Кудь-Сверчков, а также астронавт NASA Кэтлин Рубинс. Дублирующий экипаж состоит из космонавтов Роскосмоса Олега Новицкого, Петра Дуброва и астронавта NASA Марка Ванде Хая.

Packed Bed Reactor Experiment-2 (PBRE-2):

The crew deinstalled and stowed the PBRE-2 hardware. The PBRE-2 investigates the forces acting on and created by a gas and a liquid flowing simultaneously through a column filled with glass spheres in microgravity. Known as two-phase flow, this side-by-side movement of a gas and liquid is used in a variety of space-based systems and equipment. Results could help improve the design of future mass and heat transfer equipment used in space.

Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG):

The crew powered down the MSG Facility. The Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG) is a rack-level payload facility located in the U.S. Laboratory module on the ISS. MSG provides resources such as power, data, video, heat rejection, vacuum, nitrogen and containment for investigations. The facility is well suited for handling hazardous materials when crew are present. MSG is capable of accommodating both physical science and biological research payloads.

The crew powered on the Astrobee Free Flyer to allow ground teams to perform video capture and free flyer operations to providing JAXA Module mapping data. Astrobee is made up of three free-flying, cube-shaped robots which are designed to help scientists and engineers develop and test technologies for use in microgravity to assist astronauts with routine chores, and give ground controllers additional eyes and ears on the space station. The autonomous robots, powered by fans and vision-based navigation, perform crew monitoring, sampling, logistics management, and accommodate up to three investigations.

Eye checks took place aboard the International Space Station today to help flight surgeons understand how living in space affects vision. The Expedition 63 crew also explored future space-piloting techniques and worked on atmospheric and power systems.

All three space lab residents participated in vision tests today measuring visual acuity, visual field and contrast sensitivity. Just like visiting an eye doctor on Earth, the crew members read an eye chart at various distances and different contrasts. Doctors are exploring why some astronauts have reported vision impacts following the completion of their months-long station missions.

Commander Chris Cassidy also spent Monday working on a variety of life support and science hardware. The veteran NASA astronaut first set up a small, portable device that is testing the continuous analysis of the station's atmosphere for elements such as nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, methane and water. The data is transmitted back to Earth every two seconds for review by ground specialists.

Cassidy then collected and stowed water samples from the plumbing system inside the Tranquility module for later analysis back on Earth. He finally relocated the TangoLab-2, a science facility that supports biology and chemistry studies in a more power efficient device with better cooling capabilities.

Future missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond will require updated piloting skills necessary to operate spacecraft and robots in different gravity and planetary environments. Cosmonaut Ivan Vagner continued researching those skills aboard the station today to inform training techniques to successfully control a vehicle on a planetary surface.

Cosmonaut Anatoly Ivanishin spent his morning checking Russian battery temperatures and power connections with assistance from Vagner. The three-time station resident also synchronized cameras to station clocks and worked on computer hardware.

SCRAM (Spacecraft Atmosphere Monitor) relocate:

The crew installed the MCA (Major Constituents Analyzer) plug, removed SCRAM from its Node 2 location, installed it into EXPRESS (EXpedite the PRocessing of Experiments to Space Station) rack 8, and removed the MCA plug. The MCA plug is used to protect the SCRAM's sensor when the unit is powered off. SCRAM demonstrates the capabilities of a small, reliable, portable gas chromatograph mass spectrometer instrument aboard the ISS to conduct major and minor elements of air measurement (Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Water, etc). The instrument transmits data back to the ground research team every two seconds, providing a continuous analysis to the ground research team. It has a mass of less than 9.5 kg, and consumes less than 40 watts of power in its nominal configuration.

Health Maintenance System (HMS) Eye Exams:

Today the crew completed the first day of routine eye exams using the SSC Client to test visual acuity, visual field and contrast sensitivity. Eye exams are performed regularly onboard in order to monitor crewmember's eye health. Eyesight is one of the many aspects of the human body affected by long-duration stays in a microgravity environment.

Water Processor Assembly (WPA) Sampling:

The crew performed sampling of the potable bus from the PWD Aux Port in support of ground testing to re-validate the WPA product water for use with EMUs. The EVA community requested six liters of WPA product water be collected and returned on SpX-21 in order to perform a mini sublimator test following the recent WPA Multi-Filtration (MF) Bed R&R on-orbit. The ECLS and EVA teams opted to collect water in CWC-Is ahead of the mini sublimator test confirming the water is compatible with the EMUs. The sample activity provides an early opportunity to collect water and save crew time by pairing the fill with the sample collection. If the mini sublimator test results are not favorable, EMU water will be launched from the ground as needed and the filled CWC-Is will be used as general potable water.

Госкорпорация «Роскосмос», Первый канал и студия Yellow, Black and White впервые в истории создадут художественный фильм в космосе под рабочим названием «ВЫЗОВ». Режиссер картины — Клим Шипенко (фильмы «Салют-7», «Холоп»). Генеральными продюсерами масштабного кинопроекта выступят Дмитрий Рогозин, Константин Эрнст, Сергей Титинков, Эдуард Илоян, Денис Жалинский, Виталий Шляппо и Алексей Троцюк.

Сюжет фильма предусматривает полет на Международную космическую станцию, который запланирован на осень 2021 года на российском транспортном пилотируемом корабле «Союз МС». В настоящий момент стороны обсуждают детали будущего фильма — сценарий, технические возможности съемок и актерский состав.

Главный герой картины, который полетит на МКС, и его дублер будут определены по результатам открытого конкурса. Название фильма пока не утверждено. Данная картина будет способствовать популяризации космической деятельности России и героизации профессии космонавта.

ISS preparing for a collision avoidance burn at 2119 UTC due to predicted close approach to another object (not sure which one  at this point). Burn will be 0.3m/s and 150 s in duration. I assyme the burn is by the Progress MS-14 cargo ship.

Crew also preparing for possible 'safe haven' retreat to Soyuz, but this will likely not be needed if the burn is successful.

As far as I know this conjunction alert only arose today, I don't recall a collision avoidance burn being planned this quickly before

Flight controllers in Mission Control Houston, with assistance from U.S. Space Command, are tracking an unknown piece of space debris expected to pass within several kilometers of the International space Station. An avoidance maneuver is scheduled to take place using the Russian Progress resupply spacecraft currently docked to the aft end of the Zvezda service module at 4:19 p.m. CT. Out of an abundance of caution, the Expedition 63 crew will relocate to their Soyuz spacecraft until the debris has passed by the station. The time of closest approach is 5:21 p.m. CT.

Как сообщил ранее ТАСС в Москве источник в Центре управления полетами, прогнозируется опасное сближение МКС с нераспознанным космическим объектом. Планируется маневр уклонения МКС.

В космическом ведомстве США отметили, что американские специалисты "наблюдают за неизвестным фрагментом космического мусора". Он, как ожидается, "пройдет в нескольких километрах от МКС".

В заявлении уточняется, что будет проведена коррекция обриты комплекса. В целях предосторожности экипаж "переместится в корабль "Союз", пока фрагменты не пройдут мимо станции". Как ожидается, ближе всего к МКС они будут находится примерно в 18:21 по времени Восточного побережья США (01:21 мск).

Сейчас на борту МКС находятся российские космонавты Анатолий Иванишин и Иван Вагнер, а также американский астронавт Крис Кэссиди.

МОСКВА, 23 сен - РИА Новости. Международная космическая станция в среду уклонилась с помощью двигателей грузового корабля "Прогресс" от столкновения с неизвестным космическим мусором, сообщил хьюстонский центр управления полётом.

В ходе переговоров, трансляция которых ведётся НАСА, специалист центра управления полетом в Хьюстоне проинформировал астронавта Кристофера Кэссиди, что манёвр уклонения МКС от мусора прошёл успешно.

Ранее НАСА сообщило, что МКС с помощью двигателей грузового корабля "Прогресс" выполнит манёвр уклонения от неизвестного космического мусора. Отмечалось, что на время пролёта мусора экипаж укроется в пилотируемом корабле "Союз".

Сейчас на МКС работают россияне Анатолий Иванишин и Иван Вагнер, а также американец Кристофер Кэссиди.

Using the ISS Progress 75 thrusters and with NASA and Russian flight controllers working in tandem, the International Space Station conducted a 150-second reboost Tuesday afternoon at 5:19 p.m. EDT to avoid a possible conjunction with an unknown piece of space debris. Because of the late notification of the possible conjunction, the three Expedition 63 crew members were directed to move to the Russian segment of the station to be closer to their Soyuz MS-16 spacecraft as part of the safe haven procedure out of an abundance of caution. At no time was the crew in any danger.

The maneuver raised the station's orbit out of the predicted path of the debris, which was estimated to come within 1.39 kilometers of the station with a time of closest approach of 6:21 p.m. EDT.

Once the avoidance maneuver was completed, the crew reopened hatches between the U.S. and Russian segments and resumed their regular activities

The debris object that ISS avoided is now available on SpaceTrack as 2018-084CQ, 46477, from the breakup of Japan's H-2A F40 rocket stage. At 2221:07 UTC it passed within a few km of ISS at a relative velocity of 14 6 km/s, 422 km over the Pitcairn Is  in the S Pacific

H2A F40 launched GOSAT-2 in Oct 2018. The stage appears to have made a depletion burn to lower orbit from 597 x 618 km to 598 x 520 km. Nevertheless it underwent a major breakup on 2019 Feb 6.

It was a busy day aboard the International Space Station as the Expedition 63 crew members traded roles as an eye doctor, orbital plumber and scientist. The station also boosted its orbit out of the way of an unknown piece of space debris today.

Once again, the U.S. commander and the two Russian flight engineers joined each other Tuesday afternoon for a series of eye checks planned for this week. NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy took charge as the Crew Medical Officer and scanned the eyes of cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner using an ultrasound device. The scans look at the optic nerve, cornea and lens. The eye exams will continue through Thursday.

Cassidy is also readying the space station's Tranquility module for a new toilet due to be delivered Oct. 3 on a Cygnus space freighter. The high-flying plumber installed a cable that will power the advanced toilet system, also called the Universal Waste Management System (UWMS). The new bathroom will support more personnel at the station and inform plumbing technologies for future deep space exploration missions.

The Combustion Integrated Rack's fuel bottles were replaced today to support ongoing research into flames and fuels. Ivanishin serviced the science rack that provides insights helping scientists and engineers improve fire safety and fuel performance for both space and Earth systems.

Vagner set up Russian radiation detectors this morning and handed them off to Cassidy so he could deploy them in the U.S. segment's seven-windowed cupola. The first-time cosmonaut also worked on plumbing tasks in the Russian side of the station transferring urine and collecting water samples from life support systems for analysis.
