For those who aren't familiar with new Chinese rockets, the Long March 7A is more or less the LM-7 topped by the existing liquid hydrogen 3rd stage of the LM-3A/B/C series. At 7 tonnes to GTO, it will be China's next mainstay EELV-Medium class rocket.

1 ч. назад

2 other new variants of the LM-5/6/7 series - both of the "Soyuz-Antares-Falcon 9 RTLS class" (ahem) - are probably also flying by next year.   The Long March 6A - a LM-6 w/stretched 1st stage & 2 engines + 4 2-meter-diameter SRBs, can lift 4 tonnes to a 700 km high SSO.

1 ч. назад

The Long March 8 - with LM-7's 1st stage, 2 of LM-7's boosters and the existing LM-3A/B/C's 3rd stage as its 2nd stage - lifts 5 tonnes to SSO and 2.8 tonnes to GTO.

1 ч. назад

Interestingly it's these 2 variants that can bring reusable rockets to the Chinese The LM-8's design was in fact drastically changed fr om using SRBs to LRBs for consideration of using the LRBs to land the 1st stage+LRBs in one piece!

1 ч. назад

Also under consideration is a LM-6-derived core only rocket wh ere the LM-6A 1st stage would get 2 extra engines (perhaps the LM-6 2nd stage's YF-115) for landing the 1st stage.

HELSINKI — Chinese space propulsion startup Space Pioneer has raised $14 million in funding for completing a series of next-generation liquid engines.

ZJU Joint Innovation Investment, linked to Zhejiang University, led the pre-Series A round. Innoangel Fund and Eagles Fund, both based in Beijing, joined the round announced Monday.

Space Pioneer, full name Beijing Tianbing Technology Co., Ltd., secured two previous funding rounds in 2019, one of which also included ZJU Joint Innovation Investment.

The company, established in 2015, will use the funds to develop a 30-ton-thrust HCP liquid engine named Tianhuo-3. It aims to fully develop the engine and take it to the test stand this year. Igniter hot fire tests were performed late last year.

Tianhuo series engines use a 'next-generation' green, ambient temperature propellant. A hot test of the Tianhuo-2 engine was conducted early this year. A company press release states it aims to develop launch vehicles and space propulsion systems.

Chinese commercial space progress

China's commercial space sector has been quietly progressing despite delays stemming from the COVID-19 outbreak.

Beijing Interstellar Glory Space Technology Ltd., also known as iSpace, is preparing a follow-up to its maiden Hyperbola-1 launch. The first mission last July made the firm the first Chinese private entity to send a payload in orbit.

The Hyperbola-1 (Y2) rocket passed electrical tests in April (Chinese) following earlier tests of attitude control systems. Fairing separation tests were conducted April 13. No tentative launch date was provided.

Landspace Technology Corporation in March succeeded with a 1500-second test of its Tianque-11 10-ton-thrust engines. Landspace claims full-system hot tests of 10 seconds, 100 seconds, 750 seconds, and 1500 seconds were all completely successful.

TQ-11 engines are designed for use in a range of Zhuque-2 liquid methane-liquid oxygen launch vehicles. The engines will mainly be used for the second stage of the 48.8-meters-high, 3.35-meter-diameter Zhuque-2 launcher. A test flight is scheduled for 2021. Zhuque-2 will be capable of delivering a 4,000-kilogram payload capacity to a 200-kilometer low Earth orbit and 2,000 kilograms to 500-kilometer Sun-synchronous orbit.

Beijing Aerospace Propulsion Technology Co. Ltd., a rocket engine maker founded in 2018, is entering the testing phase for its Canglong-1 methalox engine. Canglong-1 engines can be used alone or in parallel with two, four and five engines to provide take-off thrust of 60 tons, 120 tons, 240 tons and 300 tons.

BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- After a successful maiden flight, China's Long March-5B carrier rocket joins the Long March-2F and Long March-7 to shoulder the construction of China's space station.

LONG MARCH-2F: CHINA'S SAFEST ROCKET

With a total length of about 58 meters, the Long March-2F has two core stages and four boosters. An escape tower will be installed on top if the rocket is used to launch manned spacecraft.

It has a takeoff mass of about 480 tonnes, and is capable of sending payloads of 8.6 tonnes to low-Earth orbit. It is designed to be China's safest and most reliable carrier rocket, according to the rocket's chief designer Zhang Zhi, of the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

It made its maiden flight on Nov. 20, 1999, launching China's first manned spacecraft Shenzhou-1 with no crew. It sent China's first astronaut Yang Liwei into space on Oct. 15, 2003, making China the third country capable of sending astronauts into space.

Over the past 20 years, the Long March-2F has completed 13 flights with a success rate of 100 percent, sending 11 spacecraft and two space labs into space, said Jing Muchun, general director of the rocket development team.

LONG MARCH-7: SPECIAL CARGO VEHICLE

With a total length of 53 meters, the Long March-7 rocket has two 3.35-meter-diameter core stages and four 2.25-meter-diameter boosters.

It uses environment-friendly fuel, including liquid oxygen and kerosene. It has a takeoff mass of about 597 tonnes, and a payload capacity of about 13.5 tonnes to low-Earth orbit and about 5.5 tonnes to 700-km Sun-synchronous orbit.

It is specially developed to launch the cargo spacecraft for China's manned space program. After a successful maiden flight in 2016, it sent China's first cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-1 to dock with the Tiangong-2 space lab in 2017.

It will be mainly used to transport materials to China's space station, including living materials for astronauts such as drinking water, food and extravehicular spacesuits, as well as operation and maintenance materials such as solar panels and spare parts, said Meng Gang, general director of the Long March-7 research team.

The rocket can also send cargo spacecraft to conduct in-orbit refueling for the space station, Meng said.

As China's first rocket designed with digital technology and the first launched at the Wenchang Space Launch Center on the coast of south China's island province of Hainan, the Long March-7 has achieved a series of technological innovations, said its chief designer Fan Ruixiang.

LONG MARCH-5B: BACKBONE OF SPACE STATION CONSTRUCTION

With a total length of about 53.66 meters, the Long March-5B rocket has a 5-meter-diameter core stage and four 3.35-meter-diameter boosters. It has a takeoff mass of about 849 tonnes, a takeoff thrust of about 1,078 tonnes and a payload capacity of at least 22 tonnes to low-Earth orbit.

It has currently the largest fairing of China's carrier rockets, which is 20.5 meters long and 5.2 meters in diameter, as tall as a six-floor building.

Specially designed to launch the core module and the experiment capsules of China's space station, it will be the backbone of the station construction, said Wang Jue, general director of the rocket research team.

The research team has achieved a series of technological breakthroughs, such as separation of the large fairing from the payloads safely in space and controlling the launch time error within one second, said its chief designer Li Dong.

China has developed and launched several new-generation carrier rockets over the past five years, ranging from the small, solid-propellant Smart Dragon 1 to the colossal heavy-lift Long March 5. Now, scientists are preparing for the debut mission of a new model-Long March 8.

The Long March 8 will improve China's launch capability for sun-synchronous orbit and will also boost the nation's commercial space industry, said Bao Weimin, director of science and technology at China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

"The rocket is expected to fill a gap in our rocket fleet because we don't have a suitable model to send a satellite weighing from 3 to 4.5 metric tons into sun-synchronous orbit. It can also be used for missions to low-Earth and geostationary transfer orbits," he told China Daily in a recent interview on the sidelines of the third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which held its closing meeting on Wednesday in Beijing.

The scientist is a member of the CPPCC National Committee, China's top political advisory body.

The rocket will mainly satisfy commercial launch needs in domestic and international markets, he said, predicting that it will likely conduct 10 to 20 launches annually after it goes into service.

In China, an increasing number of private companies have started to design and build satellites, which consequently generates a huge demand for commercial launch services.

According to designers at the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, a leading carrier rocket developer in China and a subsidiary of Bao's company, the medium-lift Long March 8 has a modular design and incorporates technologies that have been used by the Long March 3A and Long March 7.

With two core stages and two boosters, the rocket is 50.3 meters tall, has a liftoff weight of about 356 tons, and is propelled by liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen and kerosene. Its core stages are basically identical to those used by the Long March 7 and Long March 3A.

It can transport a 5-ton spacecraft to a sun-synchronous orbit 700 kilometers above Earth, designers said. Launches will be conducted at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert and Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan province.

Long Lehao, a top rocket scientist at the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, previously said variants of the Long March 8 will be reusable, explaining that their first stage and boosters will be recovered and reused.

ЦитироватьКитай создаст новую твердотопливную ракету-носитель
2020-06-05 19:42:21丨Russian.News.Cn
