This first hints of vapors have appeared from the strongback structure supporting the Falcon 9 rocket at pad 40, suggesting propellant loading preparations could be getting underway ahead of a test-firing of the launcher's first stage engines tonight.

Spaceflight Now members can watch a live feed of the launch pad. Our live coverage is made possible by the support of our members and we thank them for their support.

SpaceX has confirmed a good static fire test, and says the launch of Amos 17 is targeted for no earlier than Tuesday, pending availability of the Air Force's Eastern Range.

United Launch Alliance has reserved Thursday on the range for launch an Atlas 5 rocket with the Air Force's AEHF 5 communications satellite, so it's not clear if SpaceX will be able to fit in a Falcon 9 launch attempt Tuesday evening.

It could set up to be a busy week on the Space Coast.  SLC-41 (on the left), will host an early Thursday morning launch at 5:44am of #ULA's Atlas 551 with #AEHF5, while SLC-40 (between 39 A & B), will host #SpaceX #Falcon with #AMOS17 potentially as early as Tuesday at 6:52pm. https://twitter.com/ChrisG_NSF/status/1158100600715919360 ...

Here is your first fleet breakdown of the AMOS-17 mission! Fairing recovery ships GO MS. Tree and GO Navigator are almost halfway through their ~930km journey to the LZ.   GO Navigator may have had a 12-hour headstart, but GO Ms. Tree is faster and has already overtaken.
