Legless Falcon 9 on the way to the launchpad! The landing legs and grid fins have been removed from this booster ahead of the AMOS-17 mission.   F9 is in an expendable configuration because of the weight and targeted orbit of AMOS-17.

AMOS-17 in final stages of preparation

The new AMOS-17 satellite is in the final stages of its prelaunch preparation.

The satellite is slated for launch later this summer. It will be located at 17 degrees East where it will reach across the African continent, along with the Middle East and Europe.

It will shortly be shipped to Cape Canaveral where it is scheduled to be launched on a Falcon-9 launch vehicle by SpaceX

Once operational, it will be the most advanced high-throughput satellite to provide satellite communication services to Africa.

Satellite Coverage: Africa, the Middle East, and Europe

Beams: Ka-band, Ku-band and High Throughput in C-Band (HTS).

Life Expectancy: Over 20 years, 2039

Operating from 17 degrees east, AMOS-17 satellite will expand and strengthen Spacecom's coverage of the growing satellite service markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

AMOS-17 will  utilize Boeing's advanced digital processor platform, that will provide reliable and flexible satellite solutions and offer a significant competitive advantage for our customers.

It will have a combination of broad regional beams and high throughput spot beams to maximize throughput and spectral efficiency.

The combination of the inherent flexibility of the digital platform with the mix of fixed and steerable beams ensures fast response to changing customers' needs.

The AMOS-17 satellite will provide a great fit for Spacecom's expansion strategy, offering an innovative design with capabilities that provide flexible service offerings to meet the growing demands of our customers.

AMOS-17 will enhance our capabilities as a growing and customer focused satellite operator.

C-band HTS for Africa

AMOS-17 C-band uniquely combines the benefits of HTS – High Throughput Satellite, with C-band' superior service availability, making it the best match for any Sub-Sahara project.

Offering 12 high capacity service beams (over 1Gbps per beam) and 4 international hub beams, customers enjoy the ultimate solution architecture flexibility, and can operate via a local hub within the beam, via an international C-hub, and via a hub in another C/Ku/Ka beam, simultaneously.

With each country served by one high throughput beam, customers can increase their network capacity using their current C-band equipment with no need to invest in new HTS equipment, enjoying much lower TCO and the ability to extend existing and new services.

Multiple Regional Beams

EIRP at beam peak >55 dBW
G/T at beam peak > 12 dB/K
Uplink frequencies  5.85 to 6.725 Ghz
Downlink frequencies:  3.4 to 4.2 GHz
User beams polarization : Circular
Hub beams polarization : Linear
Hub location : Africa (user beams), Europe, Middle East and Asia

Ku-band

With two high-power footprints stretching from north of Senegal to South Africa, AMOS-17 Ku-band beams serve broadcast, data and telecom markets for SOHOs, SMEs and consumers in Africa.

16°-17° East is a leading broadcast position for central and western Africa, with AMOS-17 Ku-1 beam providing extensive coverage stretching from south DRC to north of Senegal, with many TV platforms.

AMOS-17 Ku-2 beam provides even higher performance, and can be steered anywhere in Southern Africa and Eastern Africa for excellent video, data and governmental services.

Simplification of the broadcasting chain is key to our customers, and AMOS-17 offers a unique benefit of using one Uplink to broadcast to both beams simultaneously.

Ku-1 Beam

EIRP at beam peak > 52 dBW
G/T at beam peak > 6 dB/K
Uplink frequencies 13.75 to 14.5 Ghz; 17.3 to 18.1 Ghz
Downlink frequencies: 10.95 to 11.2 GHz; 11.7 to 12.75 GHz; 13.4 to 13.65 GHz
Uplink polarization : Vertical and Horizontal
Downlink polarization : Vertical and Horizontal

Ku-2 Beam

EIRP at beam peak > 55 dBW
G/T at beam peak > 9 dB/K
Uplink frequencies 13.75 to 14.5 Ghz; 17.3 to 18.1 Ghz
Downlink frequencies: 10.95 to 11.2 GHz; 11.7 to 12.75 GHz; 13.4 to 13.65 GHz
Uplink polarization : Vertical and Horizontal

Ka-band

Using four independently steerable beams that can be pointed anywhere in the visible earth, customers can now provide high throughput anywhere needed in EMEA, going as far as China and India in the east, and Brazil in the west.

AMOS-17 Ka-band customers can control and steer their own beams anytime.

With over 1GHz per beam, support for both Commercial & Mil Ka-bands, and flexible allocation of resources between beams, AMOS-17 Ka-band Customers can best match services profiles (for example – large IP-trunking stations and very small mobile terminals) with capacity and performance for best in class TCO.

Multiple Steerable and Fixed Beams

EIRP at beam peak > 62 dBW
G/T at beam peak > 17 dB/K
Uplink frequencies  27.5 to 31.0 Ghz;
Downlink frequencies: 17.7 to 21.2 GHz
Uplink polarization : LHCP and RHCP
Downlink polarization : LHCP and RHCP
