Mission Details
EOS-06, also named Oceansat-3A, is an Indian satellite designed to provide service continuity for operational users of the Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) instrument on Oceansat-2. It will also enhance the potential of applications in other areas. The main objectives of OceanSat-#A are to study surface winds and ocean surface strata, observation of chlorophyll concentrations, monitoring of phytoplankton blooms, study of atmospheric aerosols and suspended sediments in the water.

This launch represents Spaceflight's eighth launch on a PSLV and its fourth supporting Astrocast's nanosatellite Internet of Things (IoT) network and constellation. Once this mission is complete, Spaceflight will have launched 16 spacecraft in the Astrocast constellation, which enables companies to track and monitor assets in some of the world's most remote regions.

Astrocast is a long-time Spaceflight customer. In March 2022, the Satellite IoT (SatIoT) network operator extended its multi-launch agreement with Spaceflight to accommodate Astrocast's fast-growing IoT constellation. Spaceflight has previously successfully launched all 12 of Astrocast's spacecraft into orbit, including demonstration models dating back to Spaceflight's historic SSO-A mission in 2018 and PSLV-C45 in 2019. The companies most recently partnered and successfully launched an additional five nanosatellites on SpaceX Transporter-1 in January 2021.

The uniqueness of Astrocast's nanosatellite IoT network can be attributed to the fact that its Low-Earth-Orbit constellation of satellites offers users cost-effective, bidirectional communication and modules with long battery life that connect assets moving across its network. The small sized modules and antenna allow systems integrators to place a module on any device, from fishing buoys to container trackers or moving animals. Anand will be the first privately developed Earth observation satellite to be launched from India and second from the Pixxel stable. The firm had launched Shakuntala using a SpaceX rocket in April 2022. Aside from Anand, NSIL will launch two private communication satellites (Thybolt) for Dhruva Space and four other satellites (Astrocast) for US firm Spaceflight.
"All of them are through commercial contracts and together the seven satellites through NSIL will weigh around 50 kg. The four satellites for Spaceflight are being built by Swiss firm Astrocast," an official said.
Bengaluru-based Pixxel, which was initially looking at launch services in Russia, decided to launch its first satellite on an Indian launch vehicle in December 2020. Following that Anand was scheduled to be launched on the PSLV-51 in February 2021 making it the firm's first launch, but the firm withdrew the satellite owing to technical issues.
"Due to certain software issues that surfaced during the final satellite testing, we have decided not to proceed with our launch.." the firm had then said. It later launched Shakuntala. Sources in Isro said that the firm has now resolved all the technical issues and the satellite was ready for launch along with Oceansat-3 or Earth Observation Satellite-6 (EOS-6).
Hyderabad-based Dhruva, which space qualified its satellite orbital deployer (DSOD 1U) earlier this year, will launch two tech-demonstrator satellites — their Thybolt-1 and Thybolt-2.
Besides the NSIL payloads and Oceansat-3, the PSLV will also put into orbit BhutanSat — a satellite for Bhutan as part of New Delhi's diplomacy. Former Isro chairman K Sivan had described it as India's gift to Bhutan as part of the space diplomacy initiatives put in place by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "We're helping their personnel to build the nano satellite which will be used for imaging purposes," he had told TOI earlier.
Oceansat-3, the main payload, is part of a series of satellites from Isro dedicated to oceanography and atmospheric studies. The first two satellites facilitate a range of applications including cyclone prediction, documentation of chlorophyll concentration, phytoplankton blooms, atmospheric aerosols, and so on.
The third in the series is expected to provide continuity and enhanced capabilities for sea surface temperature measurements among other things.
While union minister Jitendra Singh has announced the launch date to be November 26, a senior Isro official said: "The date has been decided but an official announcement on the same will be made a bit later. The launch preparations are ongoing at the first launch pad in Sriharikota."

By India Today Web Desk: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is set to launch the final mission of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) for the year. The PSLV-C54 mission will lift off from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota with nine satellites, which include 8 nanosatellites.
This will be the 56th flight of the PSLV from India and the fifth and final launch of the vehicle in 2022. The 44.4 meter rocket will launch with a lift-off mass of 321 tonnes with its primary satellite being the Earth Observation Satellite-6, also dubbed the Oceansat-3.
The satellite will be deployed in the sun-synchronous orbit, which is a kind of polar orbit where satellites traveling over the polar regions are synchronous with the Sun. This means they are synchronized to always be in the same fixed position relative to the Sun. According to the European Space Agency, the sun-synchronous orbit ensures that the satellite always visits the same spot at the same local time.

WHEN WILL ISRO LAUNCH PSLV-C54?
The PSLV-C54 mission with Oceansat-3 is scheduled to launch from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 11:56 am on Saturday. The 24th Flight of the PSLV-XL version will separate the primary satellite in Orbit-1 following which an orbit change is planned using two Orbit Change Thrusters (OCTs) introduced in the Propulsion Bay Ring of the PSLV-C54 Vehicle.

WHAT IS ISRO LAUNCHING WITH PSLV-C54?
Isro is launching a total of nine satellites into space on Saturday, which includes the primary satellite EOS-06 and eight nanosatellites that have been developed by private companies and also jointly by India and Bhutan. The Earth Observation Satellite-06 is the third-generation satellite in the Oceansat series and is designed to provide continuity services of Oceansat-2 spacecraft with enhanced payload specifications as well as application areas.
Meanwhile, Isro will launch ISRO Nano Satellite-2 for Bhutan (INS-2B) spacecraft with the PSLV-C54 mission. INS-2B will have two payloads, namely NanoMx and APRS-Digipeater. PSLV-C-54 will also carry Anand, a technology demonstrator nano satellite, which is aimed at demonstrating the capabilities and commercial applications of miniaturized earth-observation cameras.

       Дели. 26 ноября. ИНТЕРФАКС - Индийская ракета-носитель Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) стартовала на орбиту со спутником дистанционного зондирования Земли EOS-06 и восемью кубсатами, трансляцию запуска ведёт Индийская организация космических исследований (ISRO).
       Запуск был осуществлён в 11:56 по Индийскому стандартному времени (в 09:26 мск) со стартовой площадки Космического центра имени Сатиша Дхавана, расположенного на острове Шрихарикота на юго-востоке Индии.
       Аппарат EOS-06 (Earth Observation Satellite - 06), массой 1117 кг, был создан подразделением ISRO - U R Rao Satellite Centre для пополнения спутниковой группировки Oceansat в целях обеспечения непрерывного наблюдения за океанами и применения в сфере океанографии. Планируется, что EOS-06 отправится на солнечно-синхронную орбиту высотой 738 км и дополнит работу спутника Oceansat-2, выведенного на орбиту в 2009 году.
       Также на орбиту высотой 511 км отправятся восемь кубсатов, в том числе, индийские INS-2B, Anand, два аппарата Thybolt и четыре наноспутника Astrocast, разработанные одноимённой швейцарской компанией. Все аппараты будут использоваться для испытания и демонстрации различных технологий.
       Четырёхступенчатая ракета-носитель среднего класса PSLV способна выводить диверсифицированную полезную нагрузку на различные виды орбит, в том числе около 1.7 тонн на солнечно-синхронную полярную орбиту и 1.4 тонны на геопереходную орбиту. Эта миссия стала 56-й для ракет этой серии за всё время эксплуатации.
