XICHANG, July 26 (Xinhua) -- China successfully sent a group of new remote sensing satellites into orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Friday.
The satellites, belonging to the Yaogan-30 family, were launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 11:57 a.m. (Beijing Time).
The satellites have entered the planned orbits, and will be used for electromagnetic environment detection and related technological tests.
Friday's launch was the 308th mission of the Long March rocket series.

По ее данным, запуск был осуществлен при помощи ракеты-носителя "Чанчжэн-2С" (CZ-2C) в 11:57 по местному времени (06:57 мск) с космодрома Сичан провинции Сычуань на юго-западе страны.
"Все три спутника были спроектированы и изготовлены в Китае объединенными усилиями CASC и программы пилотируемых космических полетов КНР", - проинформировали в корпорации.
К настоящему моменту космические аппараты находятся на низкой околоземной орбите на высоте 600 км. Это 308-й по счету запуск ракеты-носителя серии "Чанчжэн".
КНР активно развивает национальную космическую программу, разрабатывая метеорологические, телекоммуникационные и навигационные спутники, а также технологии для освоения Луны. Помимо этого, китайские ученые реализуют проект по исследованию астероидов и Марса, к интенсивному изучению поверхности которого они намерены приступить в 2020-2025 годы.

МОСКВА, 26 июл - РИА Новости. Ракета-носитель "Чанчжэн-2С", которая в пятницу вывела с космодрома Сичан на орбиту три спутника "Яогань-30", имела решетчатые рули, позволяющие повысить точность падения отработавшей первой ступени ракеты на Землю.
На снимках ракеты, опубликованных китайскими СМИ, видны четыре решетчатых руля, установленных на переходнике между первой и второй ступенями. После разделения ступеней переходник с рулями остается на первой ступени. Рули позволяют управлять положением ступени при ее падении на Землю.
На видео, размещенных в китайских микроблогах Weibo, видно как отработавшая первая ступень запущенной в пятницу ракеты в вертикальном положении падает на Землю.

Впервые решетчатые рули аналогичной конструкции были использованы американской компанией SpaceX Илона Маска для обеспечения посадок на Землю первых ступеней ракет Falcon-9. Да, новая плоскость -- на 180° от той, в которую затарили не три, а шесть аппаратов. Итого, чтобы закрыть все заявки, нужно уже не 36 штук, а 72 -- шесть проскостей по 12 КА в каждой. Еще 19 пусков, подумаешь, какая мелочь.

Погодите. Рули стоят на переходнике, который должен оставаться на первой ступени, зачем второй тащить этот вес наверх? Да и при входе второй в атмосферу они вряд ли помогут. Насчёт "минимизации района падения" - наверное, но может быть, это отработка алгоритмов управления рулями для перспективной многоразовой ступени?

BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- China has successfully tested the technology that can accurately control the landing site of falling rocket parts, making progress toward reusable launch vehicles in the future, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) said on Sunday.
The CASC said that the test was carried out following a Long March-2C rocket launched on Friday, and focused on grid fins which are like "wings" on rocket core part to increase precision in control of its landing location.
According to experts from the CASC, the rocket' flight trajectory is designed to avoid densely populated areas. But after completing the mission, the rocket debris falls under no control with a wide range of landing points which sometimes involve inhabited areas.
In order to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, the currently practice is to evacuate people to the safety zone before each mission, which is not only inconvenient for the local people, but increases the cost and task difficulty.
The success of the test is of great significance for improving China's inland rocket landing safety, minimizing the inconvenience to the local people, as well as promoting the follow-up development of carrier rockets' controllable recovery, soft landing and reuse, according to He Wei, an official with the CASC.
"The swinging grid fins were used to control the rocket debris' direction and attitude, much like the wings of the debris," said Cui Zhaoyun, the deputy chief designer of Long March-2C rocket. The landing site control of large and medium rockets is much more difficult than that of small rockets, he added.

HELSINKI — Launch of a Long March 2C from Xichang last week included a first use of grid fins by China to minimize the threat posed by the spent first stage to populated areas downrange.
The two-stage hypergolic Long March 2C lifted off at 11:57 p.m. Eastern July 25 carrying three Yaogan-30 (group 5) satellites into a roughly 600 kilometer orbit inclined by 35 degrees. With few details available, outside observers state that the satellites are likely for reconnaissance use by the People's Liberation Army.
Gaining more attention was the fact that the interstage section of the launch vehicle, colored gray above and attached to the first stage, included four grid fins with apparent resemblance to those used to guide SpaceX Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy boosters back to landing areas.
The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the main contractor for China's space programs, stated in a post-launch statement that the stage fell within the designated zone in prefectures within Guizhou province. Footage of first stage falling to Earth (https://twitter.com/AJ_FI/status/1154632244448976896) in a densely vegetated area was also released on social media.
The test comes in apparent response to increased awareness and visibility of spent boosters falling downrange near populated areas and increased launch activity. Three of China's four national launch centers were established during the Cold War, with tensions with the United States and Soviet Union prompting the decision for the sites to be located far inland for security reasons. Despite careful rocket flight path design and safety measures on the ground, spent boosters have frequently fallen among towns and villages downrange from Xichang, sometimes damaging property.
According to CASC, a team of one dozen members with an average age of under 35 carried out the research and development of the grid fins, which needed to be able to unlock, extend and rotate while also resisting high temperatures and pressures.
CASC stated that the grid fins successfully helped ease safety concerns by allowing a hard landing within a smaller drop zone, reducing both the need for evacuation of populated areas and hence inconvenience to locals and launch costs.
Additionally CASC states that the breakthrough is of major significance to Chinese aerospace and is a step toward controlled descent and landings which could lead to reuse of rocket stages.
