In the post-splashdown briefing for Crew-10, SpaceX's Sarah Walker says the Cargo Dragon for CRS-33 is expected to perform 4 or 5 burn activities while its docked to the ISS to help save propellant on the Russian side. There will be full cargo capacity on Dragon, but there won't be space for cargo in the unpressurized trunk.
Dina Contella, deputy manager for NASA's ISS program, says Dragon will be able to provide about 3x more boost capability than a Northrop Grumman Cygnus spacecraft.
Contella says the CRS-33 Dragon will dock to the ISS later in August and remain docked "through the end of December at least while we work to perform all those burns and boost the ISS and use as much propellant (on Dragon) as possible."

Fincke continued his preparations for the next SpaceX Dragon cargo mission targeted to resupply the crew at the end of August. The four-time station astronaut studied procedures that he will use to monitor Dragon's automated approach, rendezvous, and docking to the Harmony module's forward port. Fincke then joined fellow crewmates Cardman, Kim, Yui, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Platonov to review and train on emergency procedures for the SpaceX Dragon crew spacecraft docked to Harmony's space-facing port.
NASA and SpaceX are targeting 2:45 a.m. EDT, Sunday, Aug. 24, for the next launch to deliver science investigations, supplies, and equipment to the International Space Station. This is the 33rd SpaceX commercial resupply services mission to the orbital laboratory for NASA. Filled with more than 5,000 pounds of supplies, a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket will lift off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The date adjustment provides additional time for mission readiness as teams work to complete final prelaunch preparations.

ЦитироватьThe spacecraft is scheduled to dock autonomously at approximately 7:30 a.m. to the forward port of the space station's Harmony module.
In addition to food, supplies, and equipment for the crew, Dragon will deliver several experiments, including bone-forming stem cells for studying bone loss prevention and materials, to 3D print medical implants that could advance treatments for nerve damage on Earth. Dragon also will deliver bioprinted liver tissue to study blood vessel development in microgravity, as well as supplies to 3D print metal cubes in space.
These are just a sample of the hundreds of biology and biotechnology, physical sciences, Earth and space science investigations conducted aboard the orbiting laboratory. This research benefits people on Earth while laying the groundwork for other agency deep space missions. As part of NASA's Artemis campaign, the agency will send astronauts to the Moon to prepare for future human exploration of Mars, inspiring the world through discovery in a new Golden Age of innovation and exploration.
During the mission, Dragon also will perform a reboost demonstration of station to maintain its current altitude. The hardware, located in the trunk of Dragon, contains an independent propellant system separate from the spacecraft to fuel two Draco engines using existing hardware and propellant system design. The boost kit will help sustain the orbiting lab's altitude starting in September with a series of burns planned periodically throughout the fall of 2025. During NASA's SpaceX 31st commercial resupply services mission on Nov. 8, 2024, the Dragon spacecraft performed its first demonstration of these capabilities.
The Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to remain at the space station until December, when it will depart the orbiting laboratory and return to Earth with research and cargo, splashing down off the coast of California.

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, SpaceX's Dragon completed an initial burn to test the spacecraft's new capability to help maintain the altitude of the International Space Station. Two Draco engines located in the trunk of Dragon, which contains an independent propellant system, were used to adjust the space station's orbit through a maneuver lasting five minutes, three seconds. The initial test burn increased the station's altitude by around one mile at perigee, or low point of station's orbit, leaving the station in an orbit of 260.9 x 256.3 miles. The new boost kit in Dragon will help sustain the orbiting lab's altitude through a series of longer burns planned periodically throughout the fall of 2025.
This Dragon spacecraft, which is supporting NASA's SpaceX 33rd commercial resupply mission, arrived at the orbital complex on Aug. 25. Dragon is scheduled to remain at the space station until late December or early January before returning to Earth with research and cargo, splashing down off the coast of California.

ЦитироватьOn Thursday, SpaceX's Dragon was conducting a reboost of the International Space Station using the company's CRS-33 Trunk Draco thrusters when the burn was manually aborted approximately 3 minutes, 45 seconds into the planned 19-minute, 22-second burn. All systems aboard the space station are operating as expected, and the Expedition 73 crew is conducting its normal complement of work.
Ground controllers at SpaceX, in close coordination with NASA's Mission Control Center at the agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston, commanded the abort when operators noticed a swap of the Draco thruster fuel tanks did not occur as planned. Teams stopped today's burn to conserve propellant on the spacecraft.
Ground teams are reviewing plans for a follow-up reboost at 2:24 p.m. EDT on Friday, Sept. 26. Dragon previously conducted space station reboost on Sept. 3, which lasted the full duration.
