Elytra Mission 1
Elytra Mission 1 will demonstrate the responsive on-orbit capabilities of the Elytra vehicle. In support of Xtenti's follow-on study contract with the NRO, the mission will demonstrate a rapid payload reconfiguration utilizing Xtenti's FANTM-RiDE payload dispenser prior to launching on Firefly's Alpha vehicle. Upon launching on Alpha, Firefly's Elytra vehicle will utilize the FANTM-RiDE dispenser to first deploy commercial rideshare payloads in Sun-Synchronous Orbit, and then perform an on-orbit maneuver and stand ready to deploy U.S. government payloads on-demand.

As the first of many missions utilizing multiple Firefly vehicles, the demonstration will lay the groundwork for Firefly's end-to-end mission solutions, proving our capabilities to rapidly launch, maneuver, and deploy satellites at a time and place of our customers' choosing.
In support of Xtenti's follow-on study contract with the NRO, the mission will demonstrate a rapid payload reconfiguration utilizing Xtenti's FANTM-RiDE payload dispenser prior to launching on Firefly's Alpha vehicle. UPDATE! During testing at Firefly's facility in Briggs Texas, the first stage of Firefly's Alpha Flight 7 rocket experienced an event that resulted in a loss of the stage. Proper safety protocols were followed, and all personnel are safe. Firefly is assessing the impact to its stage test stand, and no other facilities were impacted.

Elytra Mission 1 will demonstrate the responsive on-orbit capabilities of the Elytra vehicle. In support of Xtenti's follow-on study contract with the NRO, the mission will demonstrate a rapid payload reconfiguration prior to launching in addition to responsive on-orbit deployments after launching. After the initial set of payloads are deployed in low Earth orbit, Elytra will stand ready to perform an on-orbit maneuver when called upon before deploying the second set of payloads from the same dispenser that can open and close on-demand.
