Pair of satellites for Europe's MEO Galileo constellation. Originally planned to launch on Soyuz ST, but scrapped due to geopolitical factors. Then moved to Ariane 6, which was also scrapped due to delays. Europe contracted SpaceX to launch the two pairs aboard Falcon 9 for approximately €180 million ($192 million).

Galileo FOC FM26 & FM32
Galileo is a global navigation satellite system that went live in 2016, created by the European Union through the European Space Agency (ESA) and operated by the European GNSS Agency (GSA). The €10 billion project is named after the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei. One of the aims of Galileo is to provide an independent high-precision positioning system so European nations do not have to rely on the US GPS, or the Russian GLONASS systems, which could be disabled or degraded by their operators at any time.
The use of basic (lower-precision) Galileo services is free and open to everyone. The higher-precision capabilities are available for paying commercial users.Payloads: 2 Total Mass: 1,603.0 kg Medium Earth OrbitСпойлер
Galileo is intended to provide horizontal and vertical position measurements within 1-metre precision, and better positioning services at higher latitudes than other positioning systems. Galileo is also to provide a new global search and rescue (SAR) function as part of the MEOSAR system.
The first Galileo test satellite, the GIOVE-A, was launched on 28 December 2005, while the first satellite to be part of the operational system was launched on 21 October 2011. By July 2018, 26 of the planned 30 active satellites (including spares) were in orbit. Galileo started offering Early Operational Capability (EOC) on 15 December 2016, providing initial services with a weak signal and reached Full Operational Capability (FOC) in 2019. The full Galileo constellation will consist of 24 active satellites, which is expected by 2021. It is expected that the next generation of satellites will begin to become operational after 2025 to replace older equipment, which can then be used for backup capabilities.[свернуть]

Just Read the Instructions is no longer heading toward the booster landing zone... which doesn't give me a warm feeling about the prospect of seeing the Galileo launch occur on Monday.

ЦитироватьSpaceX is targeting Tuesday, September 17 at 6:50 p.m. ET for a Falcon 9 launch of the European Commission's Galileo L13 mission to medium Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. If needed, there is a backup opportunity on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:46 p.m. ET.B1067.22A live webcast of this mission will begin about 15 minutes prior to liftoff, which you can watch here and on X @SpaceX (https://twitter.com/SpaceX).This will be the 22nd launch for this Falcon 9 first stage booster, which previously launched CRS-22, Crew-3, Turksat 5B, Crew-4, CRS-25, Eutelsat HOTBIRD 13G, O3B mPOWER, PSN SATRIA, Telkomsat Marah Putih 2, and 12 Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.Rapid and reliable reusability is key to making life multiplanetary – every mission is an opportunity to learn and inform future missions. During the Galileo L12 (https://www.spacex.com/launches/mission/?missionId=galileol12) mission earlier this year, the Falcon 9 booster was expended to provide the additional performance needed to deliver the payload to its orbit. Data from that mission informed subtle design and operational changes, including mass reductions and trajectory adjustments, that will allow us to safely recover and reuse this booster. Falcon 9 is ready to safely deliver Galileo L13 to orbit and return to the droneship in the Atlantic Ocean. The booster reentry trajectory will result in higher heating and dynamic pressure on the booster than many of our historical landings. Although the reentry conditions are on the higher end of past missions, they are still acceptable. This landing attempt will test the bounds of recovery, giving us valuable data on the design of the vehicle in these elevated entry conditions. This in turn will help us innovate on future vehicle designs to make our vehicles more robust and rapidly reusable while expanding into more challenging reentry conditions...

Falcon 9 1st stage B1067-22 is vertical at SLC-40 with the Galileo FOC FM26 & FM32 satellites for the Galileo L13 launch later tonight at 22:50 UTC. Unlike Galileo L12, SpaceX will attempt to recover the 1st stage. This is possible due to "subtle design and operational changes".
