PSLV-C49 to launch EOS-01 and nine customer satellites on November 07, 2020
India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle in its 51st mission (PSLV-C49), will launch EOS-01 as primary satellite along with nine international customer satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. The launch is tentatively scheduled at 1502 Hrs IST on November 07, 2020, subject to weather conditions.
EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support.
The customer satellites are being launched under commercial agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), Department of Space.
In view of the strict COVID-19 pandemic norms in place at SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota the following maybe noted:
- Gathering of media personnel is not planned at SDSC SHAR
- Launch viewing gallery will be closed during this launch
However the live telecast of the launch will be available on ISRO website, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter channels.

By Venkatachari Jagannathan (IANS) The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has decided follow a new naming policy for its earth observation satellites, it is learnt.
Henceforth, the Indian space agency will be naming its earth observation satellites as EOS tagged with a serial number.
As a result, ISRO's radar imaging satellite RISAT-2BR2 has been renamed as EOS-01, an official preferring anonymity told IANS.
The ISRO on Wednesday said its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C49) will launch EOS-01 as a primary satellite along with nine international customer satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.
The launch is tentatively scheduled at 3.02 p.m. on November 7, subject to weather conditions.
EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support, the ISRO said.
The radar imaging satellite with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) that can shoot pictures in all weather conditions.
The satellite can take pictures day and night and will be useful for surveillance as well as civilian activities.
This time around, the ISRO will be using the PSLV rocket's DL variant that will have two strap-on booster motors.
This rocket variant was used the first time to put into orbit Microsat R satellite on January 24, 2019.
The customer satellites are being launched under commercial agreement with NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), the commercial arm of Department of Space.
Owing to Covid-19 pandemic norms, ISRO has decided to close the rocket launch viewing gallery for the public during this launch and gathering of media personnel at the Sriharikota rocket port is also not on the cards.

Today, India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its fifty first flight (PSLV-C49), successfully launched EOS-01 along with nine international customer satellites from the First Launch Pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.
PSLV-C49 lifted-off at 1511 Hrs (IST), after a delay of nine minutes because of inclement weather conditions observed during countdown. After 15 minutes and 20 seconds, EOS-01 was successfully injected into its orbit. Subsequently, nine commercial satellites were injected into their intended orbits. After separation, the two solar arrays of EOS-01 were deployed automatically and the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network at Bengaluru assumed control of the satellite. In the coming days, the satellite will be brought to its final operational configuration.
"PSLV-C49 successfully placed all ten satellites precisely into their orbit" Chairman, ISRO, Dr. K. Sivan declared. He congratulated both the launch vehicle and satellite teams for rising to the occasion amidst the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Dr. K. Sivan also briefed about the upcoming missions.
EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite, intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support.
The nine customer satellites from Lithuania (1), Luxembourg (4) and USA(4) were launched under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).
PSLV-C49 is the 2nd flight of PSLV in 'DL' configuration (with 2 solid strap-on motors). Besides being the 51st launch of PSLV, today's launch was also the 76th launch vehicle mission from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota.

НЬЮ-ДЕЛИ, 7 ноя - РИА Новости. Индия успешно выполнила первый в этом году космический запуск, свидетельствует трансляция, проводившаяся на сайте индийской организации космических исследований.
Индийская ракета-носитель для вывода спутников на полярную орбиту (PSLV) в рамках своей 51-й миссии стартовала из Космического центра Сатиша Дхавана на острове Шрихарикота с десятью спутниками на борту - EOS-01 в качестве основного спутника и девятью спутниками международных заказчиков.
Запуск был произведен в 15.11 местного времени, на 9 минут позднее, чем было намечено ранее.
Спутник EOS-01 предназначен для наблюдения Земли и будет использоваться в сельском и лесном хозяйстве, а также при ликвидации последствий стихийных бедствий.
Среди девяти коммерческих спутников - один из Литвы, служащий для демонстрации технологий, четыре из Люксембурга, предназначенных для использования в судоходстве, и четыре из США, которые будут использоваться в дистанционном зондировании в нескольких миссиях.
