ЦитироватьThe Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 "DAICHI-2" (ALOS-2) is a follow-on mission from the "Daichi" (ALOS)
ALOS had contributed to cartography, regional observation, disaster monitoring, and resource surveys, since its launch in 2006. ALOS-2 will succeed this mission with enhanced capabilities. Specifically, JAXA is conducting research and development activities to improve wide and high-resolution observation technologies developed for ALOS in order to further fulfill social needs.
These social needs include:
1)Disaster monitoring of damage areas, both in considerable detail, and when these areas may be large
2)Continuous updating of data archives related to national land and infrastructure information
3) Effective monitoring of cultivated areas
4)Global monitoring of tropical rain forests to identify carbon sinks
The state-of-the-art L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR-2) aboard ALOS-2, which is an active microwave radar using the 1.2GHz frequency range, will, in responding to society's needs, have enhanced performance compared to ALOS/PALSAR. The PALSAR-2 is capable of observing day and night, and in all weather conditions.

DAICHI-2 (ALOS-2) transportation to Tanegashimahttp://www.jaxa.jp/projects/sat/alos2/index_e.html
ЦитироватьWe would like to report to you the transportation of the DAICHI-2 (ALOS-2) fr om the Mitsubishi Electric's Kamakura Works, wh ere its assembly and tests were conducted, to the Tanegashima Space Center (TNSC).
Preparation for the transportation began around noon on Feb. 21A fter midnight, or in the very early morning of the 22nd, the DAICHI, packed in a container, was loaded onto a large truck to go to Kawasaki Port.
The container was then placed on a boat at the port to make a 56-hour trip by sea to Shimama Port on Tanegashima Island.
The container unloaded from the ship waited on a large tractor till late at night when traffic became lighter, and it was transported to the TNSC. The DAICH-2 was moved into the Spacecraft Test and Assembly Building 2 (STA2) at the TNSC and unpacked there. The satellite will undergo various checks there.

DAICHI-2 (ALOS-2) revealed to the media at TNSChttp://global.jaxa.jp/projects/rockets/topics.html
ЦитироватьOn March 28 (Fri.), the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 "DAICHI-2"(ALOS-2) was revealed to the press at the Spacecraft Test and Assembly Building 2 (STA-2) at the Tanegashima Space Center (TNSC.)
Project manager Shinichi Suzuki, who has been involved in the project since the DAICHI, the predecessor of the DAICHI-2, commented, "We have developed high-quality radar and data transmission technologies this time. Whenever our test results did not seem logical, we discussed the results in cooperation with the manufacturer and related workers to find a solution. Now, I would like to brace myself for the launch."
The DAICHI-2 will be launched by the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 24 on May 24 (Sat.) after going through final preparations. Once the DAICHI-2 is launched, we hope it will work hard for us without coming back to the Earth again.

Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 "ALOS-2" (DAICHI-2) Gazing into Earth's Expressionhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS_4_O0V05o
"JAXA, 2013-11-26"
The DAICHI played an important role for supporting restoration in disaster-stricken areas by sending data following the East Japan Earthquake, but it completed its operations in May 2011.
The DAICHI-2 is currently under development to capture the Earth's images more quickly covering much broader areas with more details. This video explains the DAICHI-2 mission in light of "preparing for a disaster" and its "application in our lives."

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) confirmed via telemetry that the attitude control system of the Advanced Land Observing Satellite "DAICHI-2" (ALOS-2) shifted to the regular operation mode. With this confirmation, scheduled important operations of the critical phase including the deployment of antennas for direct communications and mission instruments were all achieved, thus the critical operation phase of the DAICHI-2 was completed at 4:00 p.m. on May 27, 2014 (Japan Standard Time.)
The satellite is now in a stable condition.
The satellite will move to the initial functional verification operation phase to verify the function of the satellite onboard instruments for about two and half months.
