FY-3 (Feng Yun 3) is the second generation of chines polar orbiting meteorological satellites, which are the follow-on to the FY-1 series.

The three-axis stabilized satellites feature on solar panel and following instruments:

По новой версии, это все-таки будет "Фэнъюнь-3C" с Тайюаня, причем уже 22 сентября.
Вероятно, в плоскость 3A, а это требует запуска около 03:02 UTC = 07:02 ЛМВ = 11:02 пекинского.

На 9ifly.cn пишут, что там погода сегодня не очень, сильный ветер.

The launch time should be very close to that of FY-3A - which lifted off at 03:02 UTC when it was launched in May 2008.

Новый спутник, который был выведен на заданную орбиту ракетой-носителем "Чанчжэн-4С", будет производить погодный мониторинг вместе с двумя ранее запущенными метеоспутниками.

Все три спутника серии "Фэнъюнь-3" -- китайские полярно-орбитальные метеоспутники второго поколения -- будут использоваться для мониторинга стихийных бедствий и экологической среды. Собранная ими метеорологическая информация будет использоваться в изучении глобальных изменений климата, а также в авиационных и судоходных целях.

Благодаря скоординированной работе этих спутников данные мониторинга погоды будут обновляться не раз в 12 часов, а каждые 6 часов, что позволит значительно повысить возможности китайских метеорологов в проведении наблюдений и составлении среднесрочных прогнозов погоды. Первый и второй спутники "Фэнъюнь-3" были выведены на орбиту в мае 2008 года и ноябре 2012 года соответственно.

По состоянию на настоящий момент ракеты-носители серии "Чанчжэн" совершили в общей сложности 181 запуск.

China's polar-orbiting meteorological satellite now operational

ЦитироватьBEIJING, May 5 (Xinhua) -- China's third Fengyun-III satellite, a polar orbiting meteorological satellite, was put into operation on Monday, according to a news release posted on the website of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA).

The satellite was handed over by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation to the CMA.

The third Fengyun-III satellite, together with the second Fengyun-III satellite, will form a monitoring network capable of constant three-dimensional, multiple-spectrum and remote-sensing observation of the earth.

The network of satellites will provide more and better monitoring data for global environmental surveillance, disaster reduction and the fight against climate change.

The third Fengyun-III satellite was tested and shown to function well after being launched on Sept. 23 last year. It is expected to raise China's precision in weather forecasting by around 3.0 percent.

Its launch and start of operations signaled the transition of China's second generation of polar orbiting meteorological satellites from the laboratory to application stages.

The first and second Fengyun-III were launched in May 2008 and November 2010, respectively.

The network of Fengyun-III satellites now boasts over 20,000 subscribers at home and abroad.

On June 10, the meteorological satellite Fengyun-3C has been put into operation officially which replaced FY-3A to observe in a morning orbit with FY-2B in an afternoon orbit. The operation of FY-3C will realize all-weather, multispectral, quantitative and 3D observation of global atmosphere and Geophysical factors to insure stable operation of polar-orbit meteorological satellites, provide better observation data for monitoring disasters, environment and addressing climate change, and further improve the monitoring capabilities.

 As FY-3C started to operate, the four ground stations in Guangzhou, Urumqi, Jiamusi of China and Kiruma of Swden have began to accept observing data and Beijing station became to backup.
