If things go according to plan (if!), #SpaceX (https://twitter.com/hashtag/SpaceX?src=hash) is actually on the Eastern Range's schedule for two launches in the coming days: Crew Dragon in-flight abort on 1/18 and another Starlink mission on 1/20. This of course depends on IFA, static test fire, weather, etc.

SpaceX plans to launch its next group of Starlink broadband satellites aboard a Falcon 9 rocket as soon as Monday, Jan. 20, from Cape Canaveral, two days after the company is scheduled to launch a modified Falcon 9 booster from a separate facility at the Florida spaceport to test the Crew Dragon spaceship's emergency escape system.

SpaceX's ability to achieve back-to-back launch schedule hinges on several factors, including an expected test-firing in the coming days of the Falcon 9 booster slated to fly on the next Starlink launch.

But assuming everything goes according to plan, SpaceX aims to perform launches from two pads on Florida's Space Coast as soon as Saturday and Monday.

Meanwhile, teams at pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station — located a few miles to the south of pad 39A — are preparing a separate Falcon 9 rocket for liftoff as soon as Monday, Jan. 20, sources said.

The Jan. 20 launch will haul the next batch of approximately 60 Starlink satellites into orbit for SpaceX's global broadband Internet network. Assuming the mission remains on schedule, liftoff time Jan. 20 is expected at 12:20 p.m. EST (1720 GMT).

The two upcoming launches from Florida's Space Coast will mark the second and third missions of the year for SpaceX, which says it could perform 35 or more launches in 2020, including flights carrying new Starlink broadband satellite into orbit as often as every two weeks.

SpaceX conducted 21 launches in 2018, the most missions in a single year in the company's history. The company launched 13 missions last year.

The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket to be test-fired today -- and launched tomorrow -- is designated B1051 in SpaceX's fleet of boosters.

This will be the third flight of the B1051 vehicle, following a launch from pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on March 2, 2019, with SpaceX's first Crew Dragon spaceship on an unpiloted test flight to the International Space Station.

The booster was recovered on SpaceX's drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean and reused June 12, 2019, on the launch of Canada's Radarsat Constellation Mission from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

After another landing on a SpaceX recovery ship, the booster is set for this third trip to the edge of space and back Tuesday. SpaceX's drones ship "Of Course I Still Love You" is on the way to a position roughly 400 miles (630 kilometers) northeast of Cape Canaveral for landing of the first stage again Tuesday.

SpaceX is expected to attempt launch of its next Falcon 9 rocket flight no earlier than Friday at 10:54 a.m. EST (1554 GMT) from Cape Canaveral.

A weather forecast issued by the US Space Force's 45th Space Wing this morning suggests an 80 percent chance of favorable weather conditions Friday for launch. But upper level winds are forecast to be strong, and could be out of limits for liftoff.

Falcon 9 rocket will carry 60 broadband satellites into orbit for SpaceX's Starlink network.

The Falcon 9 remains vertical at pad 40 today after a test-firing of its nine Merlin main engines yesterday.

After a period of brisk winds this week at Cape Canaveral associated with a developing gale northeast of the Bahamas, weather conditions are expected to improve Thursday and Friday.

"Winds will become southeasterly ahead of the next frontal system that will move into the Florida Panhandle on Friday," the weather team wrote in today's forecast. "On-shore moving cumulus clouds and the potential for brief coastal showers will be the main concern during the launch window on Friday. Maximum upper-level winds will be from the southwest at 110 knots near 39,000 feet."

If the launch is delayed to Saturday, more clouds and possible rain showers are expected over Cape Canaveral, and there's a 40 percent chance of weather conditions violating launch criteria.

В SpaceX рассчитывают, что старт будет осуществлен в 10:54 по времени Восточного побережья США (18:54 мск) с базы ВВС США на мысе Канаверал в штате Флорида. Ранее запуск неоднократно откладывался. В понедельник причиной этого стали неблагоприятные погодные условия.

Сеть Starlink предназначена для обеспечения доступа в интернет пользователей на всей планете за счет развертывания на околоземной орбите большого количества малых аппаратов (весом до 500 кг). Эта система связи повсеместно, включая труднодоступные и малонаселенные районы, будет обеспечивать широкополосный доступ в интернет на скорости 1 гигабит в секунду, что соответствует стандарту 5G.

На начальном этапе SpaceX планирует обеспечить высокоскоростной доступ в интернет для жителей юга США к концу 2020 года. По оценке компании, размещение на орбите в общей сложности 11 тыс. спутников и ввод их в эксплуатацию обойдется в 10 млрд долларов. The earliest launch attempt for SpaceX's next mission is expected no earlier than Monday, Jan. 27, at 9:49 a.m. EST (1449 GMT), according to multiple sources.

A new maritime exclusion warning issued late Wednesday also suggests SpaceX is targeting a launch attempt Monday from Cape Canaveral.

The latest weather forecast issued by the 45th Weather Squadron at Patrick Air Force Base predicts a 60 percent chance that conditions could violate the Falcon 9 rocket's weather constraints Monday morning.

The primary weather concerns Monday are with clouds, rain showers and isolated thunderstorms that might affect Florida's Space Coast. And upper level winds are also forecast to be strong, with predictions of winds at 120 knots at 35,000 feet.

"The strong upper level jet across the southern U.S. will lead to the development of a low pressure system across the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday," forecasters wrote in today's outlook. "This low is expected to cross the Florida peninsula on Monday, bringing showers and storms through much of the day, including during the launch window.

"The main concerns during the launch window will be cumulus clouds, disturbed weather, and thick clouds. Maximum upper-level winds will be from the southwest at 120 knots near 35,000 feet."

The official forecast predicts rain showers and isolated thunderstorms at Cape Canaveral Monday for the launch time at 9:49 a.m. EST (1449 GMT). Forecasters expect broken clouds at 2,500 feet and 8,000 feet, and overcast clouds at 20,000 feet. Winds will be from the north-northeast at 10 to 15 mph, and the temperature for Monday's launch opportunity is expected to be around 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

If the launch is delayed to Tuesday, weather conditions are expected to dramatically improve. There's just a 20 percent probability of a weather violation Tuesday.

Вашингтон. 24 января. ИНТЕРФАКС - Запуск очередной партии из 60 спутников глобальной сети интернет-покрытия системы Starlink планируется осуществить не ранее 27 января, сообщила компания-оператор SpaceX.

Отсрочка запуска продиктована плохими погодными условиями для посадки первой многоразовой ступени тяжелой ракеты-носителя Falcon 9 компании SpaceX на плавучей платформе в Атлантике. Ранее запуск планировалось осуществить во вторник, а затем в пятницу.

"Погода в зоне спасательной операции продолжает оставаться неблагоприятной, поэтому команды теперь планируют осуществить запуск 27 января", - говорится в сообщении.

Это должен быть уже четвертый вывод на орбиту группы интернет-спутников в рамках проекта Starlink. Первые 60 спутников были запущены в конце мая, вторые - в ноябре прошлого года, а третьи - в январе текущего года. С учетом предстоящего запуска орбитальная группировка системы Starlink должна составить 240 космических аппаратов.

Компания SpaceX планирует развернуть орбитальную группировку из 12 тыс. космических аппаратов данного типа для создания полномасштабной сети, которая позволит обеспечить жителей Земли широкополосным доступом в интернет в любом уголке планеты. Предполагается, что все они будут выведены на орбиту после 2020 года. Общая сумма инвестиций для реализации проекта оценивается в $10 млрд. В перспективе предполагается запуск более 30 тысяч спутников системы Starlink.

Владелец компании SpaceX Илон Маск сообщал, что для обеспечения минимального покрытия потребуется, по меньшей мере, шесть запусков ракет с 60 спутниками, то есть 360 аппаратов, а для среднего - 12 запусков, которые позволят создать группировку из 720 аппаратов.

SpaceX является одной из целого ряда компаний, которые стремятся разместить на орбите крупные орбитальные группировки спутников для обеспечения глобального интернет-покрытия. Среди них - OneWeb, Telesat, LeoSat и Amazon.

There remains a 50 percent chance of acceptable weather at Cape Canaveral on Monday morning for launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with 60 Starlink Internet satellites.

The prime weather concerns at Cape Canaveral are with disturbed weather and thick clouds, but upper level winds -- which are not counted in the 50 percent probability of violation -- are also forecast to be very strong Monday, according to the 45th Weather Squadron at Patrick Air Force Base.

Liftoff is scheduled for 9:49 a.m. EST (1449 GMT), and the launch window Monday is effectively instantaneous.

"A low pressure system over the Gulf of Mexico is spreading unsettled weather and cloudiness across the Gulf Coast states and into the Florida Panhandle," forecasters wrote in an updated outlook today. "This cloudiness will spread across Central Florida overnight, with light rain also possible. The main concerns during the launch window will be disturbed weather and thick clouds."

Maximum upper level winds will be around 135 knots from the west at about 35,000 feet, according to weather forecasters.

Weather balloons sent aloft during Monday morning's countdown will collect data on the actual winds at high altitude. That data will be fed to SpaceX to determine whether the winds are actually acceptable for launch of the Falcon 9 rocket.

Forecasters expect isolated rain showers in the area Monday morning, with broken clouds at 3,000 feet and 8,000 feet, and an overcast cloud deck at 25,000 feet. Winds should be light and variable, with a temperature of about 57 degrees Fahrenheit at launch time.

If the launch is delayed to Tuesday, better weather is predicted, with an 80 percent chance of favorable conditions and lighter upper level winds.

Follow the key events of the Falcon 9 rocket's ascent to orbit with 60 satellites for SpaceX's Starlink broadband network.

The 229-foot-tall (70-meter) rocket is scheduled to lift off Monday at 9:49 a.m. EST (1449 GMT) from the Complex 40 launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The Falcon 9 will head northeast from Cape Canaveral over the Atlantic Ocean to place the 60 Starlink satellites into a circular orbit around 180 miles (290 kilometers) above Earth. The satellites will use their ion thrusters to maneuver into their higher orbit for testing, before finally proceeding to an operational orbit at an altitude of approximately 341 miles (550 kilometers).

The Falcon 9's first stage will target a landing on SpaceX's drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" in the Atlantic Ocean nearly 400 miles northeast of Cape Canaveral.

The first stage booster launching tonight previously flew on two missions. The booster first launched from the Kennedy Space Center in March 2019 with SpaceX's first unpiloted Crew Dragon capsule, then launched again in June 2019 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California with the Canadian Radarsat Sonstellation Mission.

For Monday's mission, SpaceX will also attempt to catch both halves of the Falcon 9's payload fairing using nets aboard the ocean-going ships "Ms. Tree" and "Ms. Chief" in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Falcon 9's first stage booster will target a propulsive landing on the football field-sized drone ship at T+plus 8 minutes, 24 seconds.

SpaceX's two fairing recovery ships -- named "Ms. Tree" and "Ms. Chief" -- are also in position in the Atlantic Ocean to try and catch the two halves of the Falcon 9's payload shroud.

The vessels are equipped with giant nets to catch the fairing shells as they descend under parafoils. SpaceX has reused the fairing after retrieving the hardware from the sea, but catching them in the nets prevents the shells from being drenched in salt water. That eases their refurbishment and reuse, SpaceX says.

Эта система связи повсеместно, включая труднодоступные и малонаселенные районы, будет обеспечивать широкополосный доступ в интернет на скорости 1 гигабит в секунду, что соответствует стандарту 5G.

На начальном этапе SpaceX планирует обеспечить высокоскоростной доступ в интернет для жителей юга США к концу 2020 года. По оценке компании, размещение на орбите в общей сложности 11 тыс. спутников и ввод их в эксплуатацию обойдется в $10 млрд. SpaceX called off a scheduled launch of a Falcon 9 rocket about a half-hour before liftoff fr om Cape Canaveral Monday due to strong upper level winds, and officials aim to try again to send 60 Starlink Internet satellites into orbit Wednesday after bypassing a planned launch attempt Tuesday due to poor weather in the offshore booster recovery area.

The 229-foot-tall (70-meter) Falcon 9 rocket was counting down to liftoff at 9:49 a.m. EST (1449 GMT) Monday with the next batch of satellites for SpaceX's Starlink global Internet service. But thick clouds and brisk winds aloft threatened to exceed the rocket's launch weather criteria.

In the end, SpaceX determined the upper level winds — which gusted as high as 138 knots (158 mph) between 35,000 and 40,000 feet — were too strong for the Falcon 9 to safely climb through the atmosphere and into space Monday.

SpaceX confirmed in a tweet that teams were standing down from Monday's launch opportunity, and officials scheduled another launch attempt Tuesday at 9:28 a.m. EST (1428 GMT) from Cape Canaveral's Complex 40 launch pad.

But SpaceX tweeted later Monday that the launch would be delayed to Wednesday at 9:06 a.m. EST (1406 GMT) due to poor weather in the Atlantic Ocean, wh ere the company's drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" and twin fairing retrieval boats "Ms. Chief" and "Ms. Tree" will try to recover the Falcon 9's first stage booster and two-piece payload fairing.

The two-day schedule slip is the latest in a series of weather delays that have prevented SpaceX from sending the Falcon 9 rocket skyward since last week. SpaceX delayed the flight from Jan. 21 to wait for improved conditions at sea last week.

The Ms. Chief and Ms. Tree vessels are equipped with giant nets to catch the fairing shells as they descend under parafoils. SpaceX has reused the fairing after retrieving the hardware from the sea, but catching them in the nets prevents the shells from being drenched in salt water. That eases their refurbishment and reuse, SpaceX says.

The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket slated to launch this week is designated B1051 in SpaceX's fleet of boosters.

This will be the third flight of the B1051 vehicle, following a launch from pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on March 2, 2019, with SpaceX's first Crew Dragon spaceship on an unpiloted test flight to the International Space Station.

The booster was recovered on SpaceX's drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean and reused June 12, 2019, on the launch of Canada's Radarsat Constellation Mission from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

After another landing on a SpaceX recovery ship, the booster is se t for this third trip to the edge of space and back with SpaceX's fourth batch of 60 Starlink broadband satellites.

It will take approximately one hour for SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket to deploy 60 Starlink satellites into orbit.

The Falcon 9 will head northeast from Cape Canaveral over the Atlantic Ocean to place the 60 Starlink satellites into a circular orbit around 180 miles (290 kilometers) above Earth, with an inclination of about 53 degrees to the equator.

The satellites will use their ion thrusters to maneuver to a higher altitude for testing. The flat-panel satellites will finally proceed to an operational orbit approximately 341 miles (550 kilometers) above Earth.

With a successful flight Wednesday, SpaceX will have deployed 240 Starlink satellites on three dedicated missions since last May.

SpaceX plans to operate the an initial block of 1,584 Starlink satellites to provide worldwide broadband service for consumers, telecom operators, airplanes and ships. The U.S. military is also a likely customer for the Starlink network, and the Defense Department has already signed a contract with SpaceX to test broadband links through the Starlink fleet.

SpaceX, founded by billionaire Elon Musk, has regulatory approval from the Federal Communications Commission to eventually field a fleet of up to 12,000 small Starlink broadband stations.

Company officials say 24 launches are needed to provide global broadband service through the Starlink service. But SpaceX could provide an interim level of service over higher latitude regions of the Earth later this year, once SpaceX has launched around 720 satellites on 12 Falcon 9 flights.

"Теперь мы намечаем запуск Starlink на среду, 29 января, на 09:06 по времени восточного побережья [17:06 мск]", - уточнила компания, пояснив, что очередная отсрочка обусловлена прогнозом неблагоприятной погоды в зоне подбора отработанной ступени ракеты. SpaceX совершенствует технологию возвращения ступени носителя для ее повторного применения и удешевления пусков.

Компания отложила ранее запланированный на понедельник старт Falcon 9 из-за сильного ветра. В SpaceX рассчитывали отправить ракету в космос во вторник в 17:28 мск. Теперь срок запуска пришлось отложить еще на сутки.

Сеть Starlink предназначена для обеспечения доступа в интернет пользователей на всей планете за счет развертывания на околоземной орбите большого количества малых аппаратов (весом до 500 кг). Эта система связи повсеместно, включая труднодоступные и малонаселенные районы, будет обеспечивать широкополосный доступ в интернет на скорости 1 гигабит в секунду, что соответствует стандарту 5G.

На начальном этапе SpaceX планирует обеспечить высокоскоростной доступ в интернет для жителей юга США к концу 2020 года. По оценке компании, размещение на орбите в общей сложности 11 тыс. спутников и ввод их в эксплуатацию обойдется в $10 млрд. Это правда, но эта причина одинакова для любых пилотируемых пусков, а не только Ф9 с Драгоном.

Первая ступень ракеты-носителя Falcon 9 ранее использовалась дважды - при первом запуске в беспилотном режиме нового корабля Crew Dragon в марте 2019 года и при выводе на орбиту спутника RADARSAT в июне 2019 года.
Как сообщила компания SpaceX, первая ступень будет посажена на платформу Of Course I Still Love You, находящуюся в Атлантическом океане в 600 км от берегов Флориды. STARLINK MISSION

On Wednesday, January 29 at 9:06 a.m. EST, or 14:06 UTC, SpaceX completed its fourth launch of Starlink satellites from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.

Falcon 9's first stage previously launched Crew Dragon on its first demonstration mission in March 2019 and the RADARSAT Constellation Mission in June 2019. Following stage separation, SpaceX landed Falcon 9's first stage on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship, which was stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. One of SpaceX's fairing recovery vessels, "Ms. Tree," caught one of the fairing halves.

INTERFAX.RU - Спасательное судно Ms. Tree поймало в надводные сети одну из двух многоразовых створок головного обтекателя ракеты Falcon 9, запущенной на орбиту, сообщила (https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1222532797501296640) компания-разработчик SpaceX. Вторая створка упала в Атлантический океан, но ее можно будет достать.

Повторное использование обтекателя позволяет экономить до $6 млн.

Falcon 9 29 января вывела на орбиту 60 мини-спутников связи для глобальной сети интернет-провайдера Starlink. SpaceX сообщила, что группировка спутников успешно развернута. Запуск четырежды переносился из-за неблагоприятной погоды.

Примерно через 45 минут после старта ракеты два специальных морских судна - Ms. Tree и Ms. Chief должны были "поймать" в надводные сети обе створки обтекателя головной части ракеты, которые спускались на парашютах. Удалось это только Ms. Tree.

В январе суда не успели подойти к месту приводнения створок. В декабре 2019 года они также не смогли это сделать из-за волнения на море.

Первая многоразовая ступень ракеты Falcon 9 совершила успешную управляемую посадку на плавучей платформе Of Course I Still Love You ("Конечно, я все еще люблю тебя") у побережья штата Южная Каролина в Атлантике.

А вот теперь представьте, что вы можете видеть не только плоские снимки Земли, которые собраны в текстуры, а трехмерную поверхность, по которой в режиме реального времени перемещаются машины, ходят люди, а в небе летают самолеты. Мало того, все эти люди и машины пользуются источниками электромагнитного излучения, и вы может их систематизировать, классифицировать и в случае необходимости отслеживать, а если потребуется, делать с этими данными что-то еще.

Так скажите мне, вы верите в альтруизм американского капитализма, что Илон Маск сошел с ума и решил за десятки миллиардов долларов обеспечить скоростным интернетом каннибалов юго-восточной Полинезии, или все же у проекта Starlink есть какое-то другое назначение?

The droneship is proceeding well and currently looking at an ETA between 17:00 - 23:00 EST tomorrow (31st).

They may try to push hard to arrive at the start of that window. They don't like berthing the droneship after dusk.

SPACEX Starlink Booster 1051.3 returned to Port on a rainy foggy morning sitting very low on OCISLY & with a distinct lean. The engine bells are closer to the deck then I have seen before. Be interesting to see what damages are done.
